Matthew Broderick is starring in Plaza Suite on Broadway with Sarah Jessica Parker. In order to get the word out about the play, which opened last week, the actor is doing press for it. Yesterday, he appeared on Live with Kelly and Ryan plus Late Night with Seth Meyers.
Then, when he was done with that part of his day, it was time for him to go to work. Before he could go on the stage, he had to do a COVID test. That is when the actor found out that he had tested positive for the virus after two tests, according to Broadway World.
This makes me wonder if the talk shows are doing enough to protect their hosts. For example, Meyers gave Broderick a quick hug when he came out, which could put the NBC host at risk. Something that would be bad because he has children that are too young to get vaccinated. However, I don’t know when Broderick taped that appearance, so Meyers could be in the clear.
When it comes to Live, I think you can kind of see that his eyes are watery. But I could be reading too much into it because I watched the interview after I knew he tested positive.
Simon Cowell is one of the most famous reality show judges in the world. Therefore, it would make sense that people would stop and ask him to judge them doing things.
Yesterday when he was on Late Night, he told Seth Meyers about the strangest request he has ever gotten. The King of Mean said a couple came up to him at a restaurant and offered him $150,000 to judge them having sex. Did he say yes? “Stupidly said no,” then he had a message for the couple, “If you’re watching, I’ll do it.”
I guess he needs the money to pay off his medical bills. He broke his back in 2020 while riding an electric bike. Then earlier this month, he broke his arm doing the same activity. And that is not going to stop him because as soon as he is better, he is going to get back on the bike. Even though, as he admitted he is not very good at it.
What he is good at is finding talent. So much so his son, Eric, 8, is listening to One Direction. And believe it or not, the kid doesn’t even know his dad discovered and signed them.
So which footsteps does Cowell want his son to follow in, his or 1D’s? The proud dad said he is training his son “to be on his side of the desk.” Mostly because he would never want to judge his son and find out Eric isn’t that good.
While Cowell doesn’t want his son to know rejection, Cowell experienced rejection that changed how his life turned out. Back when he was 17, he applied for a job as a runner on The Shining. However, Stanley Kubrick didn’t hire him. Months later, when Cowell’s dad ran into the director, he asked him why. Kubrick said he didn’t know it was his son and offered him the job. However, Cowell got a job in the mail department at EMI. And the rest is history.
Could you imagine if he got the job on The Shining? Then we might not have ever heard of him, and I would be writing about someone else now.
Before Seth Meyers was interviewing stars, who told him to see their movie, on Late Night with Seth Meyers, he starred in a movie called See This Movie. He looks the same now as he did when he was 28 in that 2004 film.
Seth Meyers did Late Night from 30 Rock yesterday with a live studio audience, and he looked fine. However, today is a different story.
“The bad news is, I tested positive for COVID (thanks, 2022!) the good news is, I feel fine (thanks vaccines and booster!),” he wrote. “We are canceling the rest of the shows this week, so tune in next Monday to see what cool location we will try and pass off as a studio!!!”
Hopefully, he will be better soon. Because he is the best late night host currently on television, and we can’t afford to lose him. Plus, he has three children at home, including an infant.
Seth Meyers and Will Forte have been friends since their days together on Saturday Night Live. I am sure that they have gone out drinking on more than one occasion. But have they ever gone day drinking? Now, they have, and we got to see their adventure on Late Night this morning. The morning is something neither man was looking forward to after consuming all of that alcohol.
The two funnymen made some disgusting mixed drinks, and then they played some game together. For the first game, the Last Man on Earth had to identify the silhouettes of people with facial hair. If he got it right, then Meyer drank. If he got it wrong, then he drank.
Then for game number 2, Forte had to guess what movie he was in by a picture of himself. To make it more difficult, the photos were of closer-up versions of himself with each guess.
Next up, we learned that MacGruber cannot do impressions. His Christopher Walken impression is so bad, SNL had to cut it from a sketch that Meyers wrote back in the day. While he cannot mimic people’s voices, he can give art masterpieces like The Scream a voice. This had the late host laughing historically.
However, not as hysterically as when he asked his friend to make him break. Could Forte make him crack up? Yes, and he went to great lengths to do it. How Meyers didn’t laugh for as long as he did for the last attempt, I don’t know. I was on the floor crying from laughter. That is why I love both these men!
And I must declare Will Forte is the funniest Will! So watch him as MacGruber tomorrow on Peacock!
