Believe it or not, late night hosts don’t write their own jokes. They have writers who do it for them.
One of those writers is Bryan Donaldson, and he works on Late Night. Yesterday, he wrote two dad jokes for Seth Meyers and the host was not thrilled with them.
So Meyers called his writer out on the show. And gave him a lesson on how to write a joke properly for television.
While the jokes were bad, they were also funny. And they were made even funnier because of the way Meyers jokingly went off on Donaldson.
Seth Meyers took Kristen Stewart out Day Drinking on Late Night. And he realized by the end of their day that he likes girls. Therefore, the actress dressed him as a lesbian! And he looked more like a hipster than a lesbian. You know what, it works for him!
BTW I commend Meyers for trying to make Stewart interesting, but even lots and lots of alcohol can’t do that.
Larry David was on Late Night yesterday, and Seth Meyers did an impressive job going back and forth with the curmudgeon comedian—the best I have ever seen anyone do with the Curb Your Enthusiasm star.
It started off with a bang, as in David going off on the drummer.
Then Meyers called out his guest for not having him guest on the HBO sitcom, even though he made him an offer. David explained to the host that he doesn’t think of him as an actor and doesn’t trust Meyers to act with his precious work. Thus, why he never got the call.
And Meyers wanted to save himself a phone call, so he asked David, who is going to see their friend Susie Essman, to send his regards to her. And he said no, Meyers should reach out to her himself. And he is right. Why do we have someone send our regards when we can do it ourselves?
But the best part came when David told two stories, hoping that Meyers would make the connection. And he did.
Therefore, ending the first part of their interview brilliantly.
But it was not over. There was still five minutes to go.
David called out the show for airing a clip from Curb without an introduction, so it didn’t make sense.
Then Meyers confronted David for attacking the lovable Elmo on the Today show earlier in the day. And he said he would do it again. And I bet he would,
Finally, Seth asked Larry to come back on the show just to chat. And he said, “You know what? I am not going to do that.”
David said that then, but he might change his mind when someone reads this Tweet to him from Meyers, “Top to bottom maybe my favorite interview ever.”
And it was one of mine too. Meyers does not get the respect he deserves because he is hands down the best interviewer on late night TV these days. Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, and Stephen Colbert could learn a thing or two from him.
Finally, these two played so well off of each other I would love to see them star in a father/son comedy. It couild be about Meyers needing to take in his dad, who was kicked out of his assisted living facility for obvious reasons.

Seth Meyers has two Thanksgiving traditions. The first is he brings his parents, Hilary and Laurence, and younger brother, Josh, onto Late Night for the holiday to dish about family secrets.
While they are old enough to be on his NBC late night show, his children are not. Therefore, he shares a sweet video of Ashe, 7, Axel, 5, and Addie, 2, dressed as turkeys to wish us a happy holiday! And I want to gobble them up because they are so scrumptious.
But not as scrumptious as his dog Frisbee, who is dressed as a pilgrim because why should he be left out of the mix?
Yesterday was the 50th edition of Jokes Seth Can’t Tell on Late Night. To honor the milestone, Amber Ruffin and Jenny Hagel decided to change things up. Instead of them, reading the punchlines, they had their boss, Seth Meyers, tell jokes about African Americans and lesbians.
And they didn’t share this information with him until they started the segment that was going to be the case.
How did it go? As bad for Meyers as you expected! But he did his best with each gulp of champagne.
Maybe it is because I am a sadist, but I hope they keep this format every time they do this bit.
