Back in the ’90s, Saturday mornings were all about Saved By the Bell, City Guys, Hang Time, and California Dreams.
Do you ever wonder what happened to the singing beach kids? Well, this weekend, they traded in their surfboards for a plane and are having a reunion at Manhattan’s Stitch Bar & Blues. The nine of them, Michael Cade (Sylvester “Sly” Winkle), Brentley Gore (Matt Garrison), Jay Anthony Franke (Jake Sommers), Aaron Jackson (Mark Winkle), William James Jones (Tony Wicks), Jennie Kwan (Sam Woo), Kelly Packard (Tiffani Smith), Heidi Saban (Jenny Garrison) and Diana Uribe (Lorena Costa), are going to play a few songs, have a panel discussion, sign autographs, and take picture for their fans.
Oh, how I wish I was in NYC because I loved that show growing up. And they all still look fabulous.
I wish Peter Engel would do some scripted TNBC reunion special episodes so that we can find out whatever happened to our TNBC favorites. I would watch them all, including the shows I didn’t watch.
It has been 32 years since Elizabeth Berkley, Lark Voorhies, and Tiffani Amber Thiessen got to know each other at Bayside High School. You would think after all of this time; they would not be as close. However, just like Saved By the Bell, their friendship will go on forever.
That was why Jessie Spano wrote, “These ladies… what a gift to get to work together again. We have a special history that is beyond… we worked hard together as kids to make a show that people still love, we did high school together and our parents all looked out for us too as we were minors when we started. It was a safe place to grow up and now we get to take those sweet roots and fly together as women. Don’t you love those connections that have history where you just get right to it with no explaining? It’s so comforting and we can’t wait to share some magic with you when season 2 comes out! ❤️❤️❤️”
I am sure they will still be as close 32 years from now, and we will still be watching SBTB in syndication on our glasses.
When Peacock launched, they announced they were doing a reboot of Saved By the Bell with Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley. Needless to say, the fans didn’t need caffeine pills to get so excited.
Therefore, when the show debuted on Thanksgiving, the ’90s kids, who spent their Saturday mornings with them, were excited to do it again. Especially, since they got a Zack Attack from Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Tiffani Amber Thiessen, and Lark Vorhees.
However, it was not just about them, but it is also about the newest class. This season they took on many important topics such as race, inclusion, class, and education.
In other words, it has things for the original fans and the newer ones. Thus, it makes sense that the show got picked up for 10 more classes, I mean episodes.
