Marion Ross, or as we know her as Mrs C, was on Today today to talk about her memoir My Days: Happy and Otherwise. In the book, she revealed some secrets about the show, and they wanted to talk to her to about it. But they did not want her to do it alone, so they brought on Anson Williams and Donny Most to surprise her. It has been 44 years since they became a family on TV, and they still act like one. To me, it is chemistry like that, which is why we are still talking about the show and watching it in syndication.
Back to the secrets. For the first few years of the show, the 89-year-old actress (Doesn’t she look amazing for her age?) and her TV husband, the late Tom Bosley, did not get along. She speculates that he wanted someone else to play her role and that is why he was resistant to her at first. As time went on, they grew to love each other like the couple we watch on our small screens.
She wasn’t the only one revealing behind the scenes secrets. Anson Williams shared with the host that they shot a pilot for the sitcom a year earlier and it did not go. Due to the success of the movie American Graffiti and Grease on Broadway, the network decided to give it a second go. There was only one problem, they were not sure if Williams and Ron Howard were too old to play their roles. Both actors had to re-audition for their roles as Potsie and Richie Cunningham respectively. As we know, they once again landed their parts.
What about Ralph Malph? Most says that his character was not in the original script. The actor says that he gave such a great audition for Potsie, they created Ralph Malph just for him.
Three things you never knew about the show you thought you knew everything about. I don’t know about you, but I love learning things like this.
Can you believe it has been 35 years since Grease 2 came out? The film that some deemed the worst sequel ever, while others said that it was better than the original.
Yesterday, the class of ’82 aka several cast members got together in Beverly Hills to celebrate the anniversary and watch their musical one more time. Who were the cool riders? The actors who went back to school again aka the screening were (from left to right) Alison Price Becker (Pink Lady Rhonda Ritter), Chris McDonald (T-Bird Goose McKenzie), Leif Green (T-Bird Davey Jaworski), Liz and Jean Sagal (Stacie & Gracie, Cheerleaders), Maxwell Caulfield (Michael Carrington) and the hair belongs to Maureen Teefy (Sharon). Adrian Zmed (T-Bird Johnny Nogerelli) was also there, but is not in the photos.
All of them look ready to Rock-a-Hula-Luau. It is as though no time has passed for any them, so why cannot we get a reunion movie out of them? We have been waiting 35 years for Grease 3, and now is the perfect time to bring it to the big screen.
Sadly, I did not know about this event until today, otherwise I would have totally gone with my pink lady jacket on and been a total fan girl like Baby Daddy’s Melissa Peterman. Because of not only the movie, but also when I was kid Double Trouble was my favorite show. I wanted to be just like Kate and Allison Foster. They were like so totally cool and it is great to see how beautiful they are today. Unlike their sister, Katy Sagal, who is in front of the camera, they work behind it now. Liz has worked as a writer for shows like Charmed, Monk and Sons of Anarchy while her twin Jean has been a director on 2 shows you have heard, Two and a Half Men and 2 Broke Girls.
Thank you so much to Stacey Levin for posting these photos and letting me know about the event…although a day late! I seriously cannot tell you enough how much these photos made my dad!
It has been 25, yes 25, years since Growing Pains ended, but TV brothers Jeremy Miller and Kirk Cameron are still friends after all of these years. So much so, they got together yesterday in Manhattan and ate some poutine for dinner. Something Mike Seaver introduced his little TV brother to when they filmed the reunion movie back in 2000.
When it comes to maybe doing a revival of the show, Miller did not say anything about them talking about one. Although, he did say they were talking about their late TV father Alan Thick, who passed away a year ago, and that they still missing him.
Now, let’s talk about them doing a revival. It so has Netflix or Disney Channel written all over it, so what are they waiting for? Would you watch it?
UPDATE: All of the Seaver children reunited on Today with Kathie Lee and Hoda this morning. Did you know that Tracey Gold was not the original Carol Seaver in the pilot? But they brought her back, and the rest is TV history.
UPDATE 2: Kirk Cameron has been busy working on a documentary that helps parents to talk to their kids about social media. Connect is in 750 theaters tonight at 7p and parents with kids under 21 need to see it. Hire a babysitter and gets tickets to see Connect today. It is your only chance to see it in theaters.
Manhattan is a huge island, but not big enough to keep Jerry O’Connell and Jill Hennessy away from each other. The two Crossing Jordan stars bumped into each other in the West Village and you would never know it has been 10 years since their drama ended. That is because they look as close as ever. With all the revivals, why doesn’t NBC bring this show back. Would you watch it?
46 years ago, the World fell in love with the movie version of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. Over the weekend, they did a live performance of it at the Hollywood Bowl and some of the original cast members reunited for the production.
No word if they used Charlie’s glass elevator to get to Hollywood, but I would not be surprised if that is exactly what Michael Bollner (Augustus), Julie Dawn Cole (Veruca Salt), Peter Ostrum (Charlie) and Paris Themmen (Mike Teevee) did to get here. Either that or Weird Al Yankovic, who was playing all of the Oompa Loompas, finally rescued them from the Chocolate Factory and brought them to the show.
Either way, are you as happy as Charlie was when he find that golden ticket to see them all together again? I know I am! Too bad Gene Wilder is not alive to enjoy the love we still have for the movie that has made so many kids happy over the last 4 decades!
BTW can you believe that they are all between 58-60 years old? I still see them as those little kids meeting Willy Wonka for the first time and running into his Chocolate Factory. From Pure Imagination to pure joy!
