Sequel updates: The Holiday, Rush Hour, Election, and Wonder Woman
December 8th, 2022 under DC Comics, Jackie Chan, Reese Witherspoon/Ryan Phillippe. [ Comments: none ]

On Tuesday, there was a report that there was going to be a sequel to The Holiday, but Nancy Meyers, who wrote and directed the film, quickly denied it.

Yesterday, she went on Today and explained why it is not going to happen. “I’ve been asked to make a sequel a couple of times, you know. And I think about it. And I think it is good just the way it is. I don’t know how I won’t disappoint,” she said. “It was just a moment in time for all of them. And for me.”

So if you are disappointed by the news that there won’t be a sequel, you have to ask yourself, is it better not to have a sequel or have a sequel that never should’ve been made?

And that brings us to Rush Hour 4. Jackie Chan revealed today at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, that he and Chris Tucker are in talks to make a fourth movie, according to Variety.

Before Reese Witherspoon was Legally Blonde, she would do anything to win an Election. However, she can win a sequel at Paramount+. The Hollywood Reporter says that the streaming service is in talks to make Tracy Flick Can’t Win, a sequel to the movie based on the book that came out this year.

I think if they had a vote to see if we wanted this movie, it would’ve been as popular as Kim Kardashian’s ex-husband was when he ran for President.

And finally, there is Wonder Woman 3. Yesterday, there was a report that James Gunn passed on making a third Wonder Woman film with Gal Gadot and Patty Jenkins, and today he addressed the rumors.

“So. As for the story yesterday in the Hollywood Reporter, some of it is true, some of it is half-true, some of it is not true, & some of it we haven’t decided yet whether it’s true or not,” he wrote. “Although this first month at DC has been fruitful, building the next ten years of story takes time & we’re still just beginning. Peter & I chose to helm DC Studios knowing we were coming into a fractious environment, both in the stories being told & in the audience itself & there would be an unavoidable transitional period as we moved into telling a cohesive story across film, TV, animation, and gaming. But, in the end, the drawbacks of that transitional period were dwarfed by the creative possibilities & the opportunity to build upon what has worked in DC so far & to help rectify what has not. But, in the end, the drawbacks of that transitional period were dwarfed by the creative possibilities & the opportunity to build upon what has worked in DC so far & to help rectify what has not. We know we are not going to make every single person happy every step of the way, but we can promise everything we do is done in the service of the STORY & in the service of the DC CHARACTERS we know you cherish and we have cherished our whole lives. As for more answers about the future of the DCU, I will sadly have to ask you to wait. We are giving these characters & the stories the time & attention they deserve & we ourselves still have a lot more questions to ask & answer.”

Let’s be honest. DC Studios needs to rework its strategy because its movies are not as good as Marvel’s pictures. They are too dark, both visually and thematically.

That’s all folks…for now.

A mini Cruel Intentions reunion
April 15th, 2022 under Freddie Prinze Jr / Sarah Michelle Gellar, Reese Witherspoon/Ryan Phillippe, Selma Blair. [ Comments: none ]

Yesterday was Sarah Michelle Gellar’s 45th birthday, and she spent it with some old friends who had some Cruel Intentions. As in her co-stars, Ryan Phillippe and Selma Blair, from the 1999 movie.

Seeing them together makes me want to see them do a sequel. Let’s see how cruel they are in their 40s.

Do you know how they say people start to look like dogs over time? Well, Reese Witherspoon looks just like her best friend, Minnie Pearl. It could be because they are both wearing the same sweater, or it could be because her doghter looks more like her than her daughter. What do you think?

MacGruber is back and better than ever
December 16th, 2021 under Peacock, Reese Witherspoon/Ryan Phillippe, Will Forte. [ Comments: none ]

Back in 2007, the World got to know super soldier MacGruber on Saturday Night Live. Three years later, he graduated to the big screen for a feature film. Now, eleven years after, he has his own series on Peacock, and it starts streaming today.

When we last left off, it was MacGruber’s (Will Forte) wedding day to Vicki St. Elmo (Kristen Wiig). However, his mortal enemy Cunth showed up and tried to kill them. But MacGruber threw him off a cliff, shot him, and peed on his corpse. So everyone got a happy ending.

Or so we thought. MacGruber has been in prison for killing Cunth. However, he is about to get out because Queeth (Billy Zane) has kidnapped the President’s daughter. In order for POTUS to get her back, Queeth wants MacGruber. So the President says that MacGruber can get out for the exchange.

MacGruber agrees, even though he knows it will be a suicide mission. General Barrett Fasoose (Laurence Fishburne), who is now married to Vicki, takes him to the desert for the exchange. Unfortunately, things go wrong, and Queeth takes MacGruber.

Eventually, he escapes and is reunited with Vicki and Piper (Ryan Phillipe). They decide to take down Queeth, who is planning on destroying the World with a bioweapon.

MacGruber also wants to take out Queeth because he killed his mother and destroyed his father (Sam Elliott). But is he smart enough to do it? We are talking about MacGruber, who is good at blowing things up, and I am not only talking about with explosions. Thankfully, he is not doing it alone. He has Vicki and Piper to help him out with every hair-brained scheme he comes with to take down Queeth.

MacGruber is full of twists and turns. Just when you think you know what is going to happen next, they surprise you. That is what makes this the type of show you can binge in one sitting. Well, that and all the laughs that you will get by watching.

Even though it is Forte’s show, he shares the spotlight with his co-stars. How Phillippe doesn’t break down in hysterics through the eight episodes is beyond me. He deserves an award just for that. Wiig is also impressive with the role because she can keep up with Forte, even in the scenes where they are making love. And on that note, there is nudity. Did that get you to tune in?

MacGruber is just silly fun. There are days you need that, and this series delivers.

If you haven’t seen the movie, and are afraid you won’t know what is going on, don’t worry. Maya Rudolph, who played his first wife, sings a song to catch you up. So you are ready to go.

However, if you have seen the movie, then just like the film. It is Forte doing what he does best, and that is making us laugh with his wit. He is smart while playing stupid. That is not an easy task, but he is so good at it.
