Three people have been arrested and charged with stealing confidential information from The Coca-Cola Co. and trying to sell it to rival PepsiCo Inc., federal prosecutors said Wednesday.
The suspects include an executive administrative assistant at Atlanta-based Coke, Joya Williams, who is accused of rifling through corporate files and stuffing documents and a new Coca-Cola product into a personal bag.
Williams, 41, of Norcross, Ga., and 30-year-old Ibrahim Dimson of New York and 43-year-old Edmund Duhaney of Decatur, Ga., are charged with wire fraud and unlawfully stealing and selling Coke trade secrets, federal prosecutors said.
They are expected to appear before a federal magistrate judge on Thursday in Atlanta.

4 year old pageant winner flips off the audience
July 3rd, 2006 under Odd. [ Comments: none ]

A big brouhaha in Stanislaus County as a pageant winner in Patterson is stripped of his crown. Heather Hudgens reports it all started with apricots and a finger foul-up.
It was another weekend of royalty in Patterson, and the parade queens were on their best behavior.
“I would never do it, it’s not queen worthy,” said one of the queens.
What she’s talking about is what happened last month at the Apricot festival, when the newly-crowned Little Mr. Apricot, 4-year old Matthew Burgos, raised his middle finger to the crowd!
At Mil’s Cafe, now all the talk is what happened next, when Matthew was unceremoniously relieved of his crown. The reason – the unfortunate flip of the finger.
Matthew’s mom understands why the apricot board took Matthew’s title, but wishes some townsfolk would just get over it.
“I think it is ridiculous, I mean he’s four years old,” she says.
CBS 13 asked the Patterson Apricot Fiesta Board to comment, they would not, except to confirm the story. First runner-up Michael Montiel will now assume the role of Little Mr. Apricot. Matthew doesn’t even know he’s been stripped of the title. His mom and dad say he likely wouldn’t understand, anyway.

How cute is that? Seriously they should give him back his crown and so much more! He is 4 and did not what he was doing, what is the town’s excuse?

A Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory Theme Park!
June 30th, 2006 under Odd. [ Comments: 3 ]

Amsterdam will get a theme park dedicated to chocolate and inspired by Roald Dahl’s children’s book "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," city officials and entrepreneurs said on Thursday.

Just like Dahl’s fictional "Chocolate Factory" owned by Willy Wonka, the main part of the "sweets park" will be located underground, in a disused railway tunnel which was handed over by the city of Amsterdam in a ceremony on Thursday.

The attraction, which is expected to open to the public in two to three years, will feature a glass elevator and a chocolate fountain, similar to the book. It will also produce small amounts of chocolate.

The city of Amsterdam and Dutch construction company BAM are supporting the plan, which will cost 20 million euros ($26 million), partly raised with bonds that parents and grandparents can buy for their children and grandchildren.

Reuters and De Chocoladefabriek.

Seriosuly, OMG! I am so there when it opens!

And is anyone else thinking how awesome it will be to have that theme park in the land pot? You get high and get your munchies resolved at the same time! Party on!

A Twinkies Cookbook – what is next?
June 29th, 2006 under Odd. [ Comments: none ]

Twinkie lovers are gobbling up a new cookbook featuring recipes for Twinkie Burritos and Twinkie Sushi.

In 2005, as part of Twinkies’ 75th anniversary celebration, Hostess asked people to share their ideas for cooking with Twinkies. The publisher, Ten Speed Press, said hundreds of people responded with a collection of homegrown, creative, and sometimes wacky recipes.

The recipes include the aforementioned burrito filled with Twinkies, strawberries and chocolate and sushi — featuring green fruit leather instead of seaweed. Pigs in a Twinkie includes the traditional sausage.

The book includes more than 50 recipes and 20 full-color photographs.

Holy crap!
June 23rd, 2006 under Odd. [ Comments: none ]

DEPECHE MODE rocker MARTIN GORE was once left speechless after a fan presented each member of the group with a specially made band ‘Bible’. The PERSONAL JESUS musician cites the religious piece of art as the strangest gift ever given to the British stars. He tells London magazine Time Out, "All of us were each given a Depeche Mode ‘Bible’ once. This is going back a bit, so it had four testaments: of DAVE (GAHAN), ANDREW (FLETCHER), ALAN (WILDER) and Martin. "But the whole thing was really well done. It had a metal cover, and was quite thick; there were lots of pictures in it… it was very Biblical-like."
