Pop star turned reality star turned film star, Jessica Simpson will be appearing in an episode of the Aaron Sorkin series, ‘Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip’ this November. ‘Studio 60’ is a drama series on NBC that centers on the production of a sketch comedy show similar to ‘Saturday Night Live’. Simpson will not be the first musical guest star on the show within a show. In previous episodes, Three Six Mafia and Sting have appeared. Simpson’s appearance on the show will come just in time for sweeps week, according to TV.com. The show could definitely use the ratings boost. The ratings dropped over thirty percent after the season premiere in mid-September. Live and Style Magazine stated that the part for Simpson was written especially for her. What the part entails other than playing the role of “musical guest” in the episode being produced remains to be seen. It’s too bad they aren’t having Ashlee Simpson on the show, we could see what it might look like behind the scenes when the wrong song is cued up and the musical guest gets exposed for lip synching.
Nick Lachey admits that choosing to do the MTV reality show "Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica" with then-wife Jessica Simpson might not have been a good decision. "It was among the dumber ideas I think seen I’ve ever seen executed in history," said the singer, in an appearance Wednesday on "Late Show With David Letterman." "For a while we actually enjoyed doing the show," he added, "(but) it just got to a place where it was so invasive, it became a problem." Simpson and Lachey were divorced on June 30, 2006, after almost three and a half years of marriage. Their reality show ran for three seasons. Lachey said that it’s too soon after the breakup for him to determine exactly what caused the end of his marriage, but he does think that being under the scrutiny of the reality show’s cameras was certainly a factor. So, are they friends now? "I think both of us have handled it about as well as we possibly could under the microscope that we’re under," he said. "I think, with time, it will give us a better opportunity to redefine our relationship." His latest album, "What’s Left Of Me," includes the singles "I Can’t Hate You Anymore" and "Resolution," in addition to the title track. "The new album was certainly inspired by a lot of what I was going through in my personal life," said Lachey. Despite the very public split, Lachey hasn’t given up on romance. "It hasn’t squashed my concept of love or marriage," he said. "I think that certain situations are meant to work out and others aren’t, and unfortunately, this one wasn’t." Lachey said he’s moved on and is dating but has decided to learn from the past and keep his private life private.
Jessica Simpson is back tonight with a new video called “I Belong to Me!” on MTV at 11p after the season finale of Two A Day! Wonder if the name of her song is a message to her ex-husband or her father? I hope it is to her father!
Paris Hilton is the most over-exposed celebrity that the public wants to see less of. A survey conducted by Forbes.com showed the public has grown tired seeing the star of "A Simple Life." She is followed by singer Britney Spears, Anna Nicole Smith, Spears’ husband Kevin Federline, former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson, actress Lindsay Lohan, Tom Cruise and Nicole Richie. The Olsen twins May Kate and Ashley also made it to the list at number eight followed by Michael Jackson, businessman Donald Trump and Jessica Simpson, whose "overexposure" rating had soared from 17 percent in 2003 to 41 percent in mid-2006. Robert Thompson, the founding director of the Center for the Study of Popular Television at Syracuse University, suggests to these celebrities to learn how to study the fine line between courting the spotlight and knowing when to retreat. He said, "It’s a challenge because celebrity in many ways is defined by how much exposure you get. "But the perfect equation is to get as much exposure as you possibly can right up to the moment when it gets to be too much, and then you want to pull back."
