Oh the scandal, Shonda Rhimes leaves ABC for Netflix
August 14th, 2017 under Netflix, Shonda Rhimes. [ Comments: none ]

ABC made Shonda Rhimes the uber TV producer that she is now, and now they need her more than she needs them. Sadly, they will not have her for much longer because she has left them for a multi-year deal to produce new series and other projects for Netflix. Her shows Grey’s Anatomy, How to Get Away with Murder, Scandal (which is ending this season) and the upcoming For the People will continue to air on the alphabet network, all of her new shows will air on Netflix.

This a big hit for ABC, who is having a huge problems in the drama department. Only the Shondaland dramas are doing well for them. What will they do without her? Luckily, they have The Good Doctor, but the rest of their new shows are painfully bad. The Inhumans is the worst pilot of the Fall and Once Upon a Time and Agents of SHIELD needed to end seasons ago. In other words, they are in deep doo doo.

When it comes to Netflix, this is a big get for them since they just lost Rhimes’ former bosses aka Disney. They needed something that would fill that hole and this is a good start.

Poor ABC, they just cannot catch a break these days. And American Idol has not even debuted.

Disney to Netflix, let it go
August 9th, 2017 under Disney+, Netflix. [ Comments: none ]

Before Netflix started winning a whole bunch of awards for its original programming, they used to stream some of today’s biggest movies. Then they lost their partnership with Epix and those films went away. Luckily they signed a deal with Disney and that company’s movies and TV shows started to stream. But that will be going away in 2019 because Disney is launching their own streaming service for their home videos along with one for ESPN according to The Hollywood Reporter.

If I were Netflix, I would start begging every studio to Netflix & Chill because without one I see their numbers rapidly declining. I mean, I love cheesy Horror movies and I am struggling to find ones to watch. I hate to say it, but I am OK with losing their shows and gaining ones on Hulu or Amazon Prime. I want variety and without Disney, they are not offering enough of it.

Will you let Netflix go when Disney does?

Disjointed looks highlarious!
August 8th, 2017 under Chuck Lorre, Kathy Bates, Netflix. [ Comments: none ]

Chuck Lorre is finally going to cable with Netflix’s Disjointed and I cannot wait to see what rules he finally gets to break. He is not held down by censors, he is free to write curses and that means this show about a Los Angeles cannabis dispensary is going to be one wild ride we are not going to want to get off. Especially, if we are smoking that the show starring Kathy Bates is about.

Get your bongs ready because you are not going to want miss a single hit when you binge watch this sitcom starting on August 25th.

Tony Danza will play another Tony!
June 19th, 2017 under Netflix, Taxi. [ Comments: none ]

Tony Danza has starred in several television series as a character named Tony like Taxi, Who’s the Boss?, Hudson Street, The Tony Danza Show and will once again be known as such on Netflix’s new series The Good Cop that was announced today. This time the boxer/taxi driver/baseball player/manny/detective/sports writer will be known as Tony Sr.

According to Netflix’s press release, it is about “a disgraced, former NYPD officer who never followed the rules. He lives with his son, Tony Jr., an earnest, obsessively honest NYPD detective who makes a point of always following the rules. This ‘odd couple’ become unofficial partners as Tony Sr. offers his overly-cautious son blunt, street-wise advice on everything from handling suspects to handling women.” No word who will be playing his son, but I am rooting for Josh Peck.

The 10 episode police show is created by Andy Breckman, the man who brought us Monk. I have been missing a show as brilliant as Monk and Tony Danza playing a Tony, so I am beyond excited for The Good Cop.

Now can we discuss why Tony Danza has played a Tony, not once, not twice, not thrice, not but five times on television? This is something that keeps me up late at night as I watch my all-time favorite show Taxi for the millionth time. Is it in his contract? Does he only respond to Tony? Does he want a Tony, so he thinks if he is known as Tony he will win one? He just likes his name? What do you think is the reason?
