Chevy Chase finally flunks out of Community!
November 21st, 2012 under Chevy Chase, NBC. [ Comments: none ]

Chevy Chase has publicly bashed Community, got into a vocal fight with the EP that went public and then reportedly got into a fight with the writers over race issues written for him on the show and yet he stayed over Dan Harmon. Well that is no longer the case because according to Deadline, he is no longer with the show effective immediately. Even though the show won’t air until February 7th, they are almost done filming their season so he is in almost every episode.
No reason was given for his sudden departure or how the people who work on the show feel about. But I think we can all assume when their families ask them what they are thankful for this year they will say that he is no longer with the show.
Now that he dropped out of Greendale, can we go back not caring about him again like before he did the NBC sitcom?

NeNe Leakes has an Eddie Murphy moment on The New Normal!
November 21st, 2012 under NBC. [ Comments: none ]

(starts at :20 in)

Remember when Eddie Murphy played almost all of his family members in The Nutty Professor? Well NeNe Leakes did the same thing on The New Normal yesterday and she was brilliant. Hard to believe she got her start on a reality show even though she would fly out to LA year after year for pilot season. She actually can act unlike a lot of the other people on television today!
BTW if you watch the whole episode, they have a really sweet message at the end. They say Thanksgiving is for family (the people you choose to be part of your family), and Christmas is for relatives (the people chosen to be your family.) So to my family who I will be spending Thanksgiving with tomorrow, thanks for having me and all of the yummy food that I really didn’t need to eat every little bite of on my plate.

Will Lauren and Ryan hook up on Go On?
November 20th, 2012 under NBC. [ Comments: none ]

Go On is the big sitcom hit for the fall and tonight at 9p on NBC you can find out why. That is if you don’t already know!
Matthew Perry plays Ryan a recent widower who was forced by his job to go to a therapy group to deal with his loss. Lauren Bennett (Laura Benanti) is the counselor/leader of the group and I think that the two of them have such a sweet chemistry together that I want them to hook up on the show.
Well I was recently on a conference call with the EP Scott Silveri and he talked about what would be coming up for the second half of the season. He said that they were, “kicking around ideas for a nice relationship for Matthew, so maybe we’ll find somebody interesting there. A little flirtation for him because that’s an inevitable direction for the show to go in.” Well if that is the inevitable direction, I had to find out that does that mean that there is a chance for Ryan and Lauren to become something more? Silveri responded by saying that at this point they will remain as is because they have plenty of time for that. He explained, “It wouldn’t be appropriate given the situation, nor is it something that really interested us as a bunch of writers. So you know, it’s not something we’ve written to.” He then added, “That said, they have fantastic chemistry and the scenes we’ve done with the two of them together are strong, and the scenes with a hint of flirtation are really strong. So you know, nothing is off the table for the long run, but I think the one mistake we could’ve made there is running straight to it, and we’ve managed to control ourselves there, as easy and fun as it would be to write.”
Benanti was also on the call and she felt the same way. She told us, “And in terms of playing this person, she has so much more integrity than that, you know, than to just like jump on the handsome dude whose wife just died.” Then she added, “So you know, it’s – I feel like having them connect on a friendship level and on a level where like she’s helping him is so much more interesting and shows so much more respect for the audience.” Benanti concluded her thoughts by saying she respects how the writers have been writing Ryan and Lauren’s relationship so far. And then Silveri chimed in by saying, “Until we’re stuck and we can’t come up with a story, then it’s…” Even though I see their point, I am hoping that the writers get stuck soon because I really want the two of them together. Who else is with me?

Guys with Kids and Elementary get more while Vegas gets less!
November 15th, 2012 under CBS, NBC. [ Comments: 1 ]

NBC has asked for 4 more episodes from Guys with Kids bringing the freshman sitcom’s order to 17. Personally I think NBC is making a mistake by not giving the show the back 9 because it has really found its groove and it makes me laugh every week. Unlike a lot of their other comedies.
Over at CBS the network wants two more episodes from Elementary and takes back one from Vegas according to Deadline. Which means now Sherlock will get 24 episodes while Dennis Quaid’s new show is only getting 21. So I guess we can predict which CBS show will be back next season and which won’t.

The biggest joke about NBC’s Whitney this season
November 8th, 2012 under NBC. [ Comments: 1 ]

Last year Whitney started off with OK ratings, but as the season went on they dropped drastically because people wised up to how unfunny the show is. But there was a group of people who saw it differently, and those people work at NBC and picked it up for a second season. A lot of people including me wondered WTF they were thinking, but were a little OK with the decision because it was banished to Fridays. Then when it was slated to debut, NBC pulled it with no foreseeable air date. Now it finally has an air date before the much much much funnier Guys with Kids and I like many others were hoping it would go away as quick as it came back. Well according to The Hollywood Reporter NBC for some reason has ordered 5 more scripts for the show, so I have to wonder what the f*ck does Whitney Cummings have on the people who make decisions at NBC. I mean does anyone, who is not drunk or high, find any humor in this show? To me the biggest joke from last season is that it got a second season. And this year I think the funniest thing about it the network wants more script before it even debuts. I just don’t get it. Do you?
