Has Anthem Lights created the perfect wedding medley?
June 26th, 2018 under Anthem Lights, Music. [ Comments: none ]

I was at the veterinarian’s office last year and I heard a great medley on the radio. I wanted to know who did it and turns out it is a band that does it all the time. Ever since then, I have been following Anthem Lights and they have given me several musical treats. Their latest is perfect for this time of year.

As June, the wedding month wraps up, they recorded a medley that any couple would love to have played at their reception. They mashed up Rascal Flatt’s Bless the Broken Road, Christina Perri’s A Thousand Years, Train’s Marry Me and John Legend’s All of Me into one beautiful song that would make any newlywed swoon. The only thing it is missing is a song from Ed Sheeran.

Seriously, isn’t the tune so romantic that it just makes you want to fall in love while listening to it? On that note, I am single!

The National Anthem became Rachel Platten’s fight song
April 18th, 2018 under Music. [ Comments: 2 ]

Rachel Platten is best known for singing Fight Song, but this weekend she had a fight with another song. On Saturday, she was given the honor of singing the National Anthem at the Utah Royals FC’s home debut match in Sandy, Utah, but her nerves got the best of her.

She had to start the Star Spangled Banner over not once but twice, and thankfully the third time was the charm. Did the fans of National Women’s Soccer League get mad at her? Nope, they got a kick out of it! Get it?

When it comes to Platten, how can you be upset with her? She did not give up and kept trying until she got it perfect. Let’s be honest, it can happen to anyone. Heck, I would have forgotten the lyrics by the time I got to the word see. She went one more line that I did before that happened to her.

The J Geils Band’s singer is hungry like a Peter Wolf!
December 26th, 2017 under Music. [ Comments: none ]

Like a lot of people, Peter Wolf had to wait for his Christmas dinner to be fully cooked yesterday. Therefore, when it was finally done, he was starved. Thus, when they decided to put the turkey in front of him, he was not prepared to share. Which it means it was lights out for everyone but him.

Jason Aldean breaks his silence about that horrific night in Vegas
November 13th, 2017 under Music. [ Comments: none ]

October 1st started out like any other night for Jason Aldean. He was on stage performing his music to thousands of adoring fans. But then all hell, literally, broke loose.

For the last month and a half, he has been silent about that night. But now he is talking and he gave his first interview to Today. The news show released a preview of Thursday’s segment and he talks about the exact moment that America was changed forever. He told the reporter that he was wearing an in-ear monitor to hear the music and messages from the band during the concert. Then all of sudden, he heard some crackling. He thought a speaker might have blown. Then that sound went away and he went out as though it was nothing.

All of sudden the noise started again, and he described what happened next, “I was actually getting kind of aggravated, so I looked over at the monitor guy on the side of the stage, and I was like, ‘What is that? And fix it.’ And when I turned and looked, my guitar player had run behind me and was telling me to move, like, ‘Let’s go.’ And my security guy was running on stage, telling me to run.”

That 1 minute snippet gave me chills. I cannot even imagine what he and everyone, who was there that horrible night, went through. I also cannot wait to hear the rest of that interview because I am sure that experience changed him in a way none of us could ever understand.

Is there a Hootie & the Blowfish album in the works?
November 2nd, 2017 under Harry Connick Jr, Music. [ Comments: none ]

Back in the ’90s, Hootie & the Blowfish was one of the biggest bands out there, then with the new millennium they went their separate ways. Darius Rucker went solo and had his own hits. But would he ever record with the band that made him famous again? That is exactly what Harry Connick Jr wanted to know on his daytime talk show. The singer told him, “We’re talking about it. And we’re going to do it. We just don’t know when yet.” Hopefully, the talk will turn into singing sooner rather than later because we need their type of tunes again. Until we get that their new CD, will you Hold My Hand?

Even though it has been 12 years since they released a studio album together, Rucker revealed they all live about 15 minute from each other. Now if they can only find a music studio to record in in that 15 minute radius, that would be bitchin’.
