Imagine a Star Wars with Michael Jackson as Jar Jar Binks
July 23rd, 2015 under Michael Jackson, Star Wars. [ Comments: none ]

Jar Jar Binks is the most hated character in Star Wars history, but that could’ve been a different story if George Lucas would’ve cast Michael Jackson in the part as the late singer wanted. Ahmed Best, who got the part, told Vice he was not the original choice for the role.
When Best was asked about it, he said, “That’s what George told me. Me, Natalie Portman, and George’s kids—we were at Wembley arena at Michael Jackson’s concert. We were taken backstage and we met Michael. There was Michael and Lisa Marie [Presley]. George introduced me as “Jar Jar” and I was like, That’s kind of weird. Michael was like, ‘Oh. OK.’ I thought, What is going on?” Then hes added, “After Michael had driven off, we all go back up to a big afterparty. I’m having a drink with George and I said, ‘Why did you introduce me as Jar Jar?’ He said, ‘Well, Michael wanted to do the part but he wanted to do it in prosthetics and makeup like ‘Thriller.” George wanted to do it in CGI. My guess is ultimately Michael Jackson would have been bigger than the movie, and I don’t think he wanted that.””
I wish Lucas would’ve gone with Jackson because then I wouldn’t be the only person I know who actually like Jar Jar Binks. Would you have liked him a little bit more if Jackson played him?

Pentatonix does the Evolution of Michael Jackson!
June 22nd, 2015 under Michael Jackson. [ Comments: none ]

Michael Jackson is one of the greatest musicians to have ever lived and Pentatonix performed almost of all of hits with just their voices. Even though, The King of Pop used a lot of instruments when he sang his hits, you would never know it as you listen to the quintet doing his tunes A Capella style.
Listening to them sing his legendary catalog reminds me how happy Michael Jackson’s music made whenever I listened to them. So if you need a smile on this Monday, then hit play and I promise you lips will be stretched from ear to ear.
If you want that feeling to continue, then you can see Pentatonix opening for Kelly Clarkson starting on July 11th. Can’t wait that long to see them, then you can watch their documentary On My Way Home on Vimeo.

Yesterday, at the Billboard Music Awards the late-Michael Jackson performed his newest song Slave to the Rhythm. How? Hologram!
I have a whole bunch of emotions about it, happiness, creeped out, weirded out, but mostly sadness because of the great talent we loss. What emotions did it bring up in you?

That wasn’t it for Michael Jackson
March 31st, 2014 under Michael Jackson. [ Comments: none ]

Even though Michael Jackson has been dead for nearly 5 years that isn’t stopping his family from releasing an album of never before heard songs from him on May 13th.
That X Factor judge LA Reid was given full access to MJ’s archives from the estate and has picked 8 songs to retool for modern day. Hopefully he won’t make as big of a mistake with it as he did by singing on to do that now cancelled Fox singing competition show.
If you find this news a Thriller then you can pre-order Xscape tomorrow on iTunes.

UPDATE: The first teaser trailer for the album was released and it sounds a lot like Jam to me or something that would’ve been on Blood on the Dance Floor. What do you think of the :15 second tease?

This Ohio State Universtiy Marching Band tribute to Michael Jackson is a Thriller!
October 21st, 2013 under Michael Jackson. [ Comments: none ]

On Saturday, during the halftime show of the OSU vs Iowa game, the Ohio State University Marching Band paid tribute to Michael Jackson and I don’t think that anyone can Beat It. So take 11 minutes of your day to watch the awesomeness that did, and know that the King of Pop would’ve loved it just as much as we do.
I know I found myself getting choked up as they brought the Moonwalk back to life in a marching band formation. If that is not the coolest thing you see all day, I don’t know what can top it.
And folks, that is why they are know as The Best Damn Band in the Land!
