Before Jennifer Love Hewitt joined in on Party of Five, she partied with Michael Jackson for LA Gear. How awwwdorable was the 11-year-old in that 1990 print ad?
Yesterday, when Hewitt was on Jimmy Kimmel Live, she talked about making that ad and what advice the King of Pop gave her.
She needed to leave the shoot for a charity event and he told her to always give back. He meant it because he donated a nice chunk of change to that charity in her name to bring that point home to her. Not only that, he invited her to home for Thanksgiving. You know the Neverland Ranch and she went with her mother.
Who wouldn’t want that experience from shooting a print ad?
Paris Jackson was staying at her friend’s place when another friend called her to tell her that someone had vandalized her father’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. As soon as she heard that, she ran to Walgreen’s, picked up some nail polish and cleaned the star up.
Jacko would be so proud because you cannot even tell there was once graffiti on that star. Not only would the King of Pop be proud of his daughter, so will radio host Michael Jackson whose star she actually cleaned up.
At the time, she did not know that. How does she feel now that she knows? She said, “i don’t think it was intentionally targeted it at him. i think it was probably just some young kids fucking around. but to me a name is a name and i couldn’t just hear about it and not go see it for myself.” Good for her. Her dad raised her right.
When it comes to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Ana Martinez, who runs it, had this message for all of the Jacksons, “That is terrible. I will show to @LAPDHollywood Thanks.” She means it because she takes good care of her boulevard!
Seriously, why does anyone feel the need to deface any of the stars? OK, there is one star I can see defacing, but the rest I do not.
Just when you thought that Halloween was not scary enough on its own, CBS has found a way to make it even more frightening. The Eye network is creating a one-hour animated special for Halloween featuring Michael Jackson’s music.
According to CBS’s press release, Michael Jackson’s Halloween “follows millennials Vincent (Lucas Till) and Victoria (Kiersey Clemons), who meet ‘accidentally’ on Halloween night and find themselves, along with Ichabod the dog, at a mysterious hotel located at 777 Jackson Street called This Place Hotel. Once inside, Vincent and Victoria are sent on an unexpected, magical adventure of personal discovery, culminating in a spectacular dance finale featuring an animated Michael Jackson.”
I thought I felt the earth shake today and it was probably because the King of Pop was rolling over in his gold coffin. Why? Who asked for this? Is his estate that hard up for money?
Having said all of this, I know I will find myself watching it in the Fall. Will you be checking it out or will you be telling CBS to beat it?
Everyone was shocked when Sky Arts announced that they cast Joseph Fiennes as Michael Jackson in their show Urban Myths. Then we were all mortified when we saw what he looked like in the role, but no one more than his own family. All that backlash to the network Tweeting today, “We have taken the decision not to broadcast Elizabeth, Michael & Marlon, a 30min episode from the Sky Arts Urban Myths series. This decision was taken in light of the concerns expressed by Michael Jackson’s immediate family. We set out to take a light-hearted look at reportedly true events & never intended to cause any offence. Joseph Fiennes fully supports our decision.”
I understand what they were thinking, but the casting was just horrific. In this day of hair and makeup being as complex as it is there is no reason why they couldn’t cast someone like Jacko and make them look like him. Fiennes was never right for the role. Glad they listened. But then again, it might’ve all been a publicity stunt that worked out brilliantly for them. I mean, who outside of Britain, knew about Sky Arts before all of this?
Sky Arts released the first trailer for their show Urban Myths: A Brand New Collection of Comedies and it is some of the worst casting since Lee Daniels’ The Butler. In fact, it is even worse because Joseph Fiennes is playing the late Michael Jackson. He looks nothing like the legendary singer. It is a slap in the face of his to his memory. I would say this would be a career ender, but where has he been?
The only positive thing I can say about it is Stockard Channing looks just like Elizabeth Taylor.
