Hamilton comes to Disney+ on July 3rd

We might not get fireworks this Fourth of July, but we will have them inside our homes. That is because Bob Iger, Executive Chairman, The Walt Disney Company, and Lin-Manuel Miranda announced on Good Morning America this morning that Hamilton will be coming to Disney+ on July 3rd.

This recording of the Broadway show’s performance was recorded for three days back in June 2016 before some of the original cast members left the musical to pursue other opportunities. It is directed by the man who directed the original production.

Miranda described it as, “just imagine having the best seat in the house.” Now, we have the best seat in that house, in our houses anytime we want! See fireworks!

This movie was originally slated to hit the big screens in October 2021, I am so thankful Disney moved it because it is exactly what we all need now.

Lin-Manuel Miranda was a nude model

Billy Eichner asked Lin-Manuel Miranda to tell him five jobs he had before he was a Tony-Award winning producer. They were:

1) McDonalds cashier
2) Intern at PBS/WNET (unpaid but $10 a day transportation stipend!)
3) nude model for Drawing 1 in college
4) bar mitzvah dancer
5) 7th grade English teacher

I can understand all the jobs, but not the third one. When it comes to that one, I want to see painting proof, otherwise, it did not happen. Am I the only one who wants proof?

Hamilton gets its shot on the big screen

I think I might be the only person who has never seen Hamilton, but that will change on October 15, 2021. That is because Disney announced today that they are bringing Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton to the big screen.

Instead of turning it into a huge movie production, that people will whine about, we will be seeing the original Broadway cast performing the Tony-winning show at The Richard Rodgers Theatre with the art of “live capture.” What does that mean? The press release says they will be “combining the best elements of live theater and film.”

If this works, then I would expect more shows to go from the Great White Way to Hollywood, so that people all over the world can experience it in its original form. Most likely, it will not be as good as the real thing. However, it will be a sh!tload cheaper. That is something my wallet really loves because who can afford Broadway these days? Then again, who can afford going to the movies these days? Thankfully, Disney+ is affordable and I will be able to watch to Hamilton on it in 2022. That is only two years away.

BTWF: Lin-Manuel Miranda on House, M.D.

Before Lin-Manuel Miranda was winning over critics on Broadway, he won over the biggest grouch House, M.D. How lovable was the 29-year-old in that 2009 episode?

It is not Lin, it is Lin-Manuel

If you look at Lin-Manuel Miranda’s name, then you would think it is OK just to call him Lin. Right? Well, his father, Luis, would like you to know that is wrong.

The wordsmith and his dad were interviewed by Variety and the interviewer wanted to know if they had any nicknames for each other. That is when his father revealed the origin of his son’s name. Back when the senior Miranda was an adolescent, he knew if he ever had a son that was going to be his name. Therefore, he told the interviewer, “You all call him Lin, it’s not very flattering. We even put the hyphen so people would call him Lin-Manuel, it’s an entire name”

If you ever meet Lin-Manuel, make sure to call him Lin-Manuel. It will make his daddy happy, and that is all that matters.
