Back in the ’80s, girls were in love with the lead singers of Kajagoogoo, ABC and Spandau Ballet, but never the three should meet. Thirty years later, Limahl (in sneakers), Martin Fry and Tony Hadley (in the flip-flops) got together this weekend to play a private show at the wedding of Dina & Thomas in West London.
I wonder what songs they did from their catalogs. I am thinking it was Limahl’s Never Ending Story, ABC’s The Look of Love and Spandau Ballet’s True. Three songs I would love to hear live from them. Especially since they all still look as good as they did when those tunes were climbing charts.
If you could have any living musician play your wedding, who would it be? I am going to have to sit on my choice, but I still want Air Supply’s Making Love Out of Nothing at All as my first song as a married couple.
Back in the ’80s, girls just wanted to run their fingers through the spikes of Limahl and Howard Jones’ hair and I am not too shy, shy to admit that! While we never got the chance to do that, their neverending story is not over quite yet. Like Jones said, “Things can only get better,” and it did for both rockers who met up in Germany over the weekend on a show, that was dedicated to you guessed it, the ’80s!
Seriously, how can you not have an everlasting love for these two? Don’t they make you go all Kajagoogoo? So much so that you want to turn a dream into action?
If ever there was a week that we all needed to be Walking on Sunshine, it is this one due to the Neverending Story of hate. What can make you stop being Too Shy about taking that walk on sunshine? How about seeing the people behind those songs together 3 decades after they came out? Limahl and Katrina Leskanich are touring together Down Under with the Totally ’80s Tour and posed for this fun photo backstage. Because of that today we will have Neverending Sunshine! That and you won’t be able to get their songs out of your head!
Back to the singers from Kajagoogoo and Katrina and the Waves, don’t they look as Rockin’ as ever? They look just how I remember them in the ’80s.
For the first time in 25 years all the original band members of Kajagoogoo are back to making music! The Too Shy band will be touring around Great Britain in the fall and I so want to go. So why after a quarter of a century did they decide to tour again, here is what the lead singer Limahl (who looks f*cking awesome for 50) said…
Limahl: “It took us 25 years to grow up, basically. All this silly stuff – ‘if you want to talk to me, talk to my lawyer…’ But now we’re back together, it’s a relief. When you get to our age, you know you’re half way through your life or more; you know this is not a rehearsal, it’s the real thing.†Armed with newly written songs available as an EP, Nick is optimistic about the reunion “if it ain’t fun, it ain’t worth doingâ€Â.
Kajagoogoo split 8 months after their first single Too Shy topped the charts, let’s hope they last a lot longer this time around.
I might be biased about this story because I named my cat after them. Luckily for her it is her middle name!!!
