Let’s be honest, whenever you are alone and Kelly Clarkson’s Since U Been Gone comes on, you sing your heart out to it. We all do it! It screams, rock out to me. Thus, you obey.
But maybe we shouldn’t. Jimmy Fallon got several people to listen to the chart-topper, blasting in some headphones and sing along with the tune on The Tonight Show yesterday. How did John Oliver, Rachel Brosnahan, Mumford & Sons, Meghan Trainor, Anthony Anderson and The Roots do? Well, none of us noise cancelling headphones on, but we wish we did.
As bad as some of them sounded, they still sounded a million times better than me. Which is why my neighbors have asked me to stop singing in the shower or anywhere basically.
Seriously, this segment is so full of joy, I hope the NBC show does it more often.
Tonight on The Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon and The Roots invited The Voice coaches to do a mashup of their hits acapella style. The started with Adam Levine, followed up with Jennifer Hudson, somehow got Blake Shelton to blend in before saving, Kelly Clarkson, the best for last.
Oddly enough, not only do they mesh well together as coaches on the NBC show. They also mesh well when they sing as one. Who knew?
The first trailer is out for the star-studded animated movie Ugly Dolls and I am disappointed by it. You would think with a cast like Janelle Monáe, Nick Jonas, Pitbull, Wanda Sykes, Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton and Emma Roberts, they would spend money on making the animation film look good, but I guess they spent it all on the cast instead.
It looks cheaper than the animated series based on movies that the kids you know watch on Netflix. Have you seen how bad those Barbie episodes look? Plus, the song is not as catchy as the ones in Trolls.
Yet, having said all of that, I am sure lots of kids will be begging their parents to take them to see it on May 10th. Then we will be forced to buy them the toys from it for their birthdays. It is an evil cycle that costs us money.
Clarkson will voice Moxy in the film that comes out in May and she will sing a few songs in it too along with her costar Pitbull. In the movie, Moxy and her UglyDolls friends confront what it means to be different, struggle with their desire to be loved, and ultimately discover that you don’t have to be perfect to be amazing because who you truly are is what matters most. She might be too cute to play ugly, but it is her personality that makes her perfect for the role.
Little girls around the world will want to own a Moxy doll because who does not want to be friends with the American Idol?
Along with the movie coming out, Hulu also gave the popular plush dolls a full series order. Get ready to buy all the kids in your life an UglyDoll for Christmas and their birthdays.
The Voice announced who their fall coaches will be and they are..wait for it…Blake Shelton and Adam Levine. Oh wait, they are a given? Well, sitting besides them will be Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson.
That means that if American Idol comes back in the fall on ABC, then their asses will be kicked by The Voice. Well, that and probably whatever else is on against it.
I think the OG American Idol is a great choice, the Oscar winner not so much. Although it is an interesting strategy to have 2 Idols on the NBC singing competition at the same time.
