Jelly Roll is making his acting debut this Friday at 9p on CBS’s Fire Country. He was so thankful for the opportunity that he recorded the song Dreams Don’t Die which will debut during the special episode.
The singer plays Noah, a healthcare worker and former convict who is in the process of turning his life around.
“I really found myself in this guy,” Jelly Roll said. When I came home from my last time being incarcerated, where I was so determined to change who I was as a human, that if music didn’t work, I have a feeling that I wouldn’t have been farfetched from being Noah… working just trying to help people.”
Even though this music thing has worked, he is still helping people. I read stories all the time about how he gives back to strangers! Gd bless him.
Also, if that clip is showing us what a good actor he is, then if I were the producers of 9-1-1: Nashville, I would hire him to be an actor on the show.
Back in 1992, Cindy Crawford shot a Pepsi commercial for the Super Bowl, and it is one of the most iconic ads of all time. In fact, she shot it two more times in 2002 and 2018.
That was then. Now, there is a new person wearing a white tank and short jean shorts, and her, I mean his name is Jelly Roll.
The Country singer recreated the ad for Zevia, which was produced by Ryan Reynold’s advertising company, Maximum Effort.
“Our strategy is to make the Zevia brand as anti-artificial as our products, and stand out by entertaining people while cutting through culture and the clutter of the category,” said Kirsten Suarez, Chief Marketing Officer of Zevia. “Jelly Roll was the perfect partner for this idea because not only is he a charming superstar with broad appeal, he is also so genuinely real, and open about his own personal health journey.”
They definitely made the right choice because no one does a mannequin pose better than Jelly Roll.
On that note. The commercial debuted during American Idol’s season premiere yesterday. Roll will be an Artist in Residence later this season.
Jelly Roll’s career is on a roll, and now the singer found himself a new job.
After a successful appearance on American Idol last year, the singing competition has asked him back. Not for one episode, but several!
Roll will be the first Artist in Residence. According to Variety, that means he will be “a permanent fixture this season and will work closely with the Idol hopefuls, giving them firsthand advice on how to navigate the journey.”
The Grammy winner is going to Hollywood, as in that is the first time we will see him this season.
“Had to lift up @ryanseacrest just like I’m gonna lift up the @americanidol hopefuls! ,” he wrote. “Honored to be Idol’s first-ever ARTIST IN RESIDENCE—mentoring with heart, soul, and real experience! ”
Jelly is not the only new person on the long-running show. Carrie Underwood went from being a contestant on season 4 to being a judge on season 23.
So, I have to wonder if they brought him on because she is not working out, so they are bringing him in to give the program some excitement. Either that, or are Lionel Richie and/or Luke Bryan thinking of retiring from the series after this season like Katy Perry did last year?
Jelly Roll’s first appearance will be on March 9th.
Jelly Roll is not an overnight sucess. He had to work hard and play a lot of small venues before he could sell out places like Simmons Bank Arena in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Before he sold out that arena, he was so proud when he was able to fill all 200 seats at Stickyz Chicken Shack. From there, he started playing the Rev Room, which was next to Gus’ World Famous Fried Chicken. When they were done filling the seats, they would fill their bellies with fried chicken.
In honor of his return to Little Rock, he decided to pay for everyone’s meal at the chicken restaurant today. Making strangers as happy as he was when he would eat there.
The chart-topping singer had a message for the musicians who are performing at those same bars: “I played Stickyz ten times. I’ve played the Rev Room twenty times. Keep playing, baby! Keep Playing!”
Keep playing, and you might also one day sing at the Grammys and sell out Simmons like he did!
I hope everyone who got a free meal buys his new CD Beautifully Broken. After all, he is going to need the money to pay for all of those meals!
We need more stars like Jelly Roll who give back like this!
Jelly Roll is all over the place, so you think he would be easy to recognize, especially with his facial tattoos and size. However, the employees of Walmart have no idea who he is,
The other day, the Country singer walked into the big box store to buy his new CD, Beautifully Broken. It was locked up, so he asked one of the employees to help him. Even though. Jelly Roll’s face was on the record, Orlando still did not put two and two together.
How beautifully broken is that?
Was Jelly Roll upset over the fact he was one of the People of Walmart? Nope. He said, “Greatest day ever!”
