BTWF: Raymond Lee on How I Met Your Mother
November 7th, 2022 under Before They Were Famous, How I Met Your Mother, Quantum Leap. [ Comments: none ]

Before Raymond Lee was traveling through time making a difference in people’s lives on Quantum Leap, he made a difference in Ted Mosby’s life on How I Met Your Mother. How funny was the 25-year-old in that 2012 episode?

BTWF: Kevin Hart, Jason Segel, Amy Poehler, and January Jones in North Hollywood

Before Kevin Hart, Jason Segel, Amy Poehler, and January Jones all had successful shows, they were all part of the failed pilot North Hollywood. I wonder how Hart, 21, Segel, 21, Poehler, 29, and Jones’, 23, lives would be different if the 2001 show got picked up to series.

How I Met Josh Radnor the singer
March 11th, 2021 under How I Met Your Mother. [ Comments: none ]

We know Josh Radnor, the actor from How I Met Your Mother and Hunters. Soon we are also going to know him as a singer. That is because, on April 15th, he is releasing his first solo EP One More Then I’ll Let You Go.

“When I started playing guitar four years ago, songs exploded out of me. In addition to the ones I was writing with Ben [Lee], I was writing a few songs a week on my own. I asked Ryan to produce a record for me and he came over one afternoon to hear what I had written. It was an unreasonably long list of songs. At some point I sensed him needing to leave and I said ‘One more then I’ll let you go.’ He immediately said, ‘There’s your album title!’ We recorded between 15 and 17 songs over about a year a half, since I was navigating my other careers through all this as well as writing and recording with Radnor & Lee. These were the five songs we both felt really great about,” says Radnor.

Yesterday, he released The High Road, the first song from the EP. Now that we have heard the first tune off of the record, I cannot wait to hear the four.

How we almost met Jason Biggs as Ted Mosby
February 11th, 2021 under How I Met Your Mother, Jason Biggs. [ Comments: none ]

We all know that Ted Mosby was played by the sweet Josh Radnor, but he was not the first actor to be offered the role on How I Met Your Mother. The part was originally offered to Jason Biggs, but he turned it down.

“I was offered the role, and it’s probably my biggest regret, you know, on passing,” the American Pie star told SiriusXM’s The Covino & Rich Show. ”I think I was in a phase at the time, it sounds so, so obnoxious to say right now, but at the time, it was like, ‘OK, do I want to do TV?’ I don’t know that I was quite ready to go that route.”

Then he says shortly after he said no, two things happened. The show became a huge success, and he decided he wanted to do television shows.

While he regrets turning it down, he is happy with how his life is turning out. However, if he could go back in time, he would totally do the show.

The DJs also wanted to know if his American Pie lover Alyson Hannigan gives him crap about turning down the role. He says he doesn’t know if she knows that they almost played best friends on TV.

When it comes to if I think he would’ve been a good choice for the part? I am a Biggs fan, but he would have been too much. Neil Patrick Harris was the bigger than the life character, and the series only needed one them. It is better than Ted Mosby was played by someone who is a lot tamer and nebbishy. That is what made Radnor so endearing on the show.

What do you think it would have been like if Biggs played the lead on the sitcom?

Cobie Smulders reworks Let’s Go to the Mall for coronavirus
May 8th, 2020 under Coronavirus, How I Met Your Mother. [ Comments: none ]

Once the happiest moments on How I Met Your Mother is when we saw Robin Sparkles sing Let’s Go to the Mall. A lot has happened since that episode aired. Cobie Smulders and the show’s creators, Craig Thomas and Carter Bays, updated her character’s ’90s Canadian tune for the coronavirus pandemic.

Instead of going to the mall, the actress sang Let’s All Stay at Home. Now the once happy tune made me sad, and that makes me mad. Hopefully, by Thanksgiving, I will be able to slap someone on Slapsgiving. That will make me smile again.
