Betty White has a career that so many of peers have envied and should aspire to and on January 23rd they will be honoring her with the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award. A week after her 88th she will get this honor and her age is not slowing her down. She is still doing all her animal activism, appearing on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson every now and again, starring in You Again and was recently the best part of The Proposal. No matter what she does whether it is scripted or improv her comedic timing is perfect and always brings a smile to our faces, so when I saw she was getting this honor it brought a smile to my face because she so richly deserves it.
And I am not the only one, here is what the Screen Actors Guild National President Alan Rosenberg said about her getting the honor at the Screen Actors Guild Award, “Whether creating some of television’s most indelible characters, plunging into film roles with joyous gusto or perfecting the art of the quip as a television panelist and host, Betty White has entertained audiences with her impeccable comic timing and remarkable wit for more than sixty years. Her lifelong devotion to the welfare of animals, manifest in her work as an author, producer and philanthropist, is further evidence of her tremendous humanity and meaningful contributions in so many important areas. Screen Actors Guild is honored to celebrate Betty White’s extraordinary achievements over the course of an exemplary life.†So true!
You know that when she stands up there to accept the award there will be a standing ovation her because who doesn’t love this Golden Girl? She made us laugh and fall in love with her role as Sue Ann Nevins on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Rose Nylund on The Golden Girls, appearing on her late-husband Alan Lund’s (how she met him) show Password and a countless other memorable TV appearances. And in the recent years we have seen a different side of her humor during the Comedy Central Roast for William Shatner and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. On that note, I hope they ask him to give her honor because I think his admiration and respect for her would make it a really touching speech that I am sure she would have a perfect zinger for!
I can’t wait to see her accept the honor at the Screen Actors Guild Award on January 23rd because I really think she has earned this Life Achievement Award!!!
I have to be honest, I never wanted to get into late night TV. So when my friend got me addicted to Jimmy Kimmel Live! a few years ago, I thought one show would be OK. Then I had another friend try to get me into the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and eventually he won. While Craig is funny, it is his bits with Betty White and Henry Winkler that have me hooked. If Craig could get the two nicest people in Hollywood to come on his show and do these brilliant guest appearances, he has to have something good going for him! And last night’s cameo with Betty White as a prison guard from San Quentin totally did not disappoint! I love how she told him how she lost all her life savings down a G-String of a well hung stud named Raul at a strip club in Vegas. And just like her money it just goes down from there. Seriously don’t you just love the way the two play off of each other like that? What amazing chemistry!!!
So tune into CBS’s Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson at 12:35a to see if has chemistry with Eric Bana.
I always love when Betty White visits the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and last night’s appearance didn’t disappoint! I just love the timing and chemistry between Craig and her whenever she is on! Seriously how funny and naughty is the TV legend, I wish young Hollywood would learn from her how it is done because she is a just such a comedic genius. I don’t want to spoil all the one liners between the two, so watch it all the way through for her last zinger!
Tonight on CBS at 12:35a, Craig welcomes Burn Notice’s Gabrielle Anwar.
Funny or Die has released some behind-the-scenes interview preps with Ryan Reynolds, Betty White and Sandra Bullock for their upcoming movie The Proposal and let’s just say they all don’t get along as well off-screen as they do on-screen.
Actually that is them having some fun and just seeing the wonderful chemistry between the three makes me want to see the movie even more when it comes out on June 19th. Granted this movie had me at Betty White and Ryan Reynolds.
BTW who else besides me when they heard Ryan tell Betty to suck a hot hard one, was wishing they were Betty and were willfully volunteering to take him up on his offer!!!
Seriously I think this was the funniest thing I ever saw on Funny or Die, I know I was laughing throughout the whole video!!!
The brilliant and amazingly talented Bea Arthur passed away today at the age of 86. She was one of a kind who made us laugh and enjoy her like only she can! Whether she was Maude or Golden Girls Dorothy, her voice and stature translated in to laughs with her perfect timing and delivery!
I will miss her, but I know any time we need a Bea Arthur fix I can get one by turning on Golden Girls or Maude or anything else she did.
