This season The Masked Singer is turning 10, so Fox is going big. They are starting things early on September 10th after some football game. And they promise a “special celebrity performance and reveal – one of the biggest, can’t-miss unmaskings in the show’s history!” Bigger than Dick Van Dyke? Highly doubtful. But then again, there are a lot of A-List actors who need money because they are not working due to the strike.
Back to the mysterious singing competition. After that big reveal, the rest will come on Wednesdays starting on September 27th.
And this season, they will be trolling the contestants and Nick Cannon, Robin Thicke, Ken Jeong, Nicole Scherzinger, and Jenny McCarthy with theme nights, including one dedicated to the new Trolls movie, Trolls Band Together. Along with that theme, there will be a Harry Potter night on Halloween, NFL Night, One Hit Wonders, Disco, 2000s Night, I Wanna Rock, and Soundtrack of My Life.
Wait, you mentioned Elton John, but you haven’t discussed the Rocketman. The masked singers will be singing songs from his catalog that he personally chose for them to sing.
Sounds like it is going to be a season to sing about, so will be singing along with them?
There were reports that the Emmys were being postponed due to the Actors and Writers strikes, and today Fox confirmed it. They announced the new date for television’s biggest night to Monday, January 15th.
I think that means that we will not be seeing our broadcast scripted shows until January at the earliest. So we won’t know who won’t know how the season finales will be resolved until 2024. Damn you, AMPTP. Just come to the table and agree to a deal. It is not that hard. And every day costs you more than you are saving. It is not worth it to you, them, and us, the viewers.
Now, back to the Emmys. I bet you a dollar that Fox is going to ask Foxx, Jamie Foxx, to host. Since the actor is getting better, and he has the music game show, We Are Family, coming to Fox soon.
We are just over 24 hours away from finding out if the actors are going to go on strike with the writers.
And Fox is not waiting to find out if they will sign on the dotted line. So today, they announced when their Fall full of unscripted and animated programming will debut.
Tuesday, Sept. 19:
8:00-9:00 PM NAME THAT TUNE (Season Premiere)
9:00-10:00 PM I CAN SEE YOUR VOICE (Season Premiere)
Sunday, Sept. 24 (Immediately Following FOX NFL Doubleheader):
8:00-9:00 PM KRAPOPOLIS(Special Two-Episode Preview Event)
Monday, Sept. 25
8:00-9:00 PM KITCHEN NIGHTMARES (Series Return/Season Premiere)
9:00-10:00 PM SPECIAL FORCES: WORLD’S TOUGHEST TEST (Season Premiere)
There is a writers’ strike going on in Hollywood, and it probably won’t be the only one we have in the coming months. Therefore. Fox is planning for the directors and actors to walk the line too.
So, today they announced what shows will be on their schedule next season. However, they didn’t reveal when they will air.
It isn’t all bad because Kitchen Nightmares will return after a 9-year hiatus. Jamie Foxx might not have been healthy enough to do Beat the Shazam this summer. But he and his daughter, Corinne, will be hosting We Are Family, a music guessing game show.
Since they don’t have a lineup, here are the shows that we can expect: Dramas: 9-1-1: Lone Star, Accused, Alert: Missing Persons Unit, The Cleaning Lady, Doc, and Rescue: HI-Surf; Comedies: Animal Control, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, The Great North, Grimsburg, Krapopolis and The Simpsons; Unscripted: Farmer Wants a Wife, Hell’s Kitchen, I Can See Your Voice, Kitchen Nightmares, LEGO Masters, LEGO Masters: Celebrity Holiday Bricktacular, The Masked Singer, Name That Tune, Next Level Chef, Snake Oil, Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test and We Are Family.
Last week, Fox cancelled Call Me Kat. And today, the network announced that they are still calling Animal Control. The hilarious sitcom stars animals of all types, Joel McHale, Michael Rowland, Vella Lovell, Ravi Patel, and Grace Palmer.
And did I say a variety of animals that change up every week? That is because the show is about an animal control office in Seattle that rescues exotic animals and domesticated pets.
“We are thrilled our viewers have responded to Animal Control as much as we did,” said Michael Thorn, President of Scripted Programming, FOX Entertainment. “The incredibly talented ensemble cast, led by Joel McHale, along with our creative team, Bob Fisher, Rob Greenberg, Dan Sterling and Tad Quill – not to mention a menagerie of wild animal method actors — have delivered a hilarious series that is sharp, witty, and warm, week after week.”
And Thorn isn’t lying! Animal Control is one of the few live-action comedies on Fox. But it feels animated because of the hijinx they get into during every call. That is what keeps me tuning it.
Well, not only the laughs but also the heart. Because not only are they co-workers, but they are also a work family who are always there for each other during the good and bad times. And they have more bad times than good. That is what makes comedies so funny.
