Mulan looks like the first live-action remake that can work
July 7th, 2019 under Disney. [ Comments: none ]

I will openly admit, I am not a fan of Disney’s live-action remakes. I was underwhelmed by Cinderella, and none of them have interested me ever since. That is until I saw the teaser for Mulan. Here is one of their animated classics that might actually be better as a live-action. It almost feels like this is how it always should have been.

Hopefully, it will not disappoint like the others. You know like Dumbo and Aladdin. We will find out soon enough when the movie comes out on March 27th.

Cameron Boyce passed away yesterday at the age of 20. The actor “passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated.”

Even though he was just 20 years old, he had been acting nonstop for over his half of life. Boyce is best known for playing Luke on Jessie and Carlos De Vil in the Descendants franchise. The third and final movie is slated to air August 2nd on Disney Channel.

Boyce was also the title voice of the popular kids’ cartoon Jake and the Never Land Pirates. Not only was he a Disney star, but he also played Adam Sandler’s on in Grown Ups and its sequel.

Along with Descendants 3, he has two other projects coming out. The television series Paradise City and the movie Runt.

Today, let’s honor this great talent that was taken away from us way too young and watch many of his enjoyable acting roles. I will be rewatching him in Descendants. He had such a bright future because he had such an amazing past.

My heart goes out to his family and friends. Remember to tell your loved ones that you love them because this is a reminder life is way too short.

Descedants 3 is letting us know it is Good to be Bad!
May 31st, 2019 under Disney. [ Comments: none ]

Disney Channel announced today that Descendants 3 is going to debut on August 2nd. However, what is news like that without giving us a little tease to get excited about for the sequel? What is a better way to do that than releasing the opening song, Good to Bad, with a dance number that made me feel like I just got a workout by watching it?

If the rest of the movie is like that, then it might be the best one yet. What is the film about? They say, it “unfolds on VK Day as fair-minded Mal, Evie, Carlos and Jay—the Villain Kids AKA The VKs—cross the barrier and return to their birthplace, the Isle of the Lost, to bring four deserving Villain Kids to the coveted Auradon Prep in a land where they have a chance at success, happiness and fulfillment. But, it’s Mal who knows she must resolve to permanently close the barrier to the Isle of the Lost, fearing that nemeses Uma and Hades will wreak vengeance on her new home, the idyllic kingdom now ruled by her beloved King Ben. Despite her decision, an unfathomable dark force still threatens the people of Auradon, and Mal and her friends face their biggest challenge yet.”

Mark your calendars because you don’t want to miss the musical about the teenagers of the Disney Royals and Villians trying to put their differences aside as they go to school together. It makes the Jocks and the Geeks battling it out look boring. Maybe if they sang and danced together, they would all get along?

Andi Mack’s final episodes begin airing on June 21st
April 24th, 2019 under Disney. [ Comments: none ]

Andi Mack broke so many grounds on Disney Channel, and today they announced the show is coming to an end. The series was the network’s first serialized show, first one to feature an Asian family and have a character say, “I’m gay!”

It was not only about these milestones, but it was also about so much more. Andi (Peyton Elizabeth Lee) is a 13-year-old girl who finds out her older sister (Lilan Bowden) is her mother and the people she thought were her parents are really her grandparents. If that is not enough, she also has her first crush (Asher Angel), he becomes her boyfriend and they break up. While she can’t make love work, her mom and the dad (Trent Garrett), who she never knew before now, can. They are getting married and I bet you that will be the final episode.

Andi’s friends have had their own struggles with being a teenager. Cyrus (Joshua Rush) came out as gay and Buffy deals with being an overachiever. They have good times together and bad ones too. It reminded me of what it was like to be in junior high school all over again.

That is why I feel that three seasons is not enough. I am surprised by Disney Channel’s decision to end the show. Especially since it is their biggest series. If you have never seen, you can watch it on their app. That is how I discovered it, it came on after I watched Z-O-M-B-I-E-S for the first time and I fell in love with both instantly.
