The Chicago crossover night is a must not miss event

This season, NBC put all three Chicago shows on one night. Tonight starting at 8p, Chicago Fire, Chicago Med and Chicago PD have a three-hour crossover event.

In the first episode, Chicago Fire is sent out to battle a high rise fire that is affecting the top floors. It is a quick spreading fire and it is not going to be easy to fight. In fact, several of them will find their lives in danger. Not only are our guys in trouble, so is a family member of someone from the Chicago shows. Once everyone is out, it is time to get our firefighter and the family member to the hospital, along with the other victims.

That brings us to the second hour, where several people will fight for their lives and not everyone is going to survive. One family has a tough decision whether or not save their daughter or let her die. Two brothers fight over the care of their father. Another firefighter is suffering the mental effects from fighting a fire like this. Finally, there is a Jane Doe who is very close to where the fire started. When she makes a run for it that causes PD to get involved.

PD knows this woman knows who started this deadly fire and now they have to figure out who set it. Once they figure it out who it is, they will do their hardest to bring that person in. One cop is motivated by revenge and it might cost them their life.

Even though it is a crossover event, each episode stands alone. You will still feel like you are watching the shows you love, they just all have a special connection tonight. Kudos to the producers for making the three hours seem so seamless.

Day 3 of the fall season
September 26th, 2018 under ABC, Dick Wolf, Empire. [ Comments: none ]

They said the third time is a charm, but not for the third day of the broadcast fall season. Of the screeners I saw for tonight, none of them made me go wow. They kept my interest but nothing groundbreaking.

As I have done for the last two days, I will review the shows from best to worst in my opinion. I have to say, it was a tie for best. When it comes to worst, there was no contest that that goes to A Million Little Things. I don’t know what ABC was thinking by putting the most depressing show on television after four comedies. Seriously?

I will start it off with Single Parents on ABC at 9:30p. It is a new comedy about 5 single parents trying to survive the day by raising their kids without a spouse.

Will Cooper (Taran Killam) and his daughter Sophie (Marlow Barkley) are new to the school and his whole life revolves around his kid. He acts more like a first grader than her dad. Thankfully, the other single parents are there to help him out. But they are only doing it so that he will leave him alone. He is like that lost puppy no one wants but will do anything to have you take him home. You know the type of dog.

Angie (Leighton Meester) used to be like Will, but not anymore. Now she will do anything to have alone time to drink. While Douglas (Brad Garrett) not Doug just want to hang with his dermatologist friends and not his twin daughters. Poppy (Kimrie Lewis) wants Douglas to help her with her son, who is a little eccentric and she accepts him for who he is. Finally, Miggy (Jake Choi) does not have a kid in the first grade like the others, they have adopted him and his baby boy into their group.

Even though they don’t want to hear that it takes a village to raise a family, it really does. Good thing they have each other in this endearing comedy that could become an ABC staple.

Then at 8p on Fox, Empire is back on Fox and the 2-year time jump helps to breath new life into the show as more people die.

As you just read, the drama starts the season off 2 years after the season finale. Lucious (Terrence Howard) and Cookie (Taraji P. Hensen) are nearly broke without Empire and they are trying to start their own record label. Andre (Trai Byers) is in jail and Jamal (Jussie Smollett) is in London with a new love.

The Lyons are all over the place and something needs to get them back together. How about another death? Is that person the one in the coffin? Who is in that coffin?

I have seen the first two episodes of the season, and it feels as good as it during the first season. The restart is just what they needed and you do not want to miss it.

Dick Wolf takes on Hate Crimes
September 4th, 2018 under Dick Wolf. [ Comments: none ]

NBC announced today that they picked up a new Law & Order show from Dick Wolf and it is about hate crimes in NYC. In the last few years, hate crimes are up all over America. While New York City is a melting pot, it is not immune from it.

No matter which way you look in the city, you will see someone who does not look or act like you. You would think that would bring strangers together. But ever since a NYer took office, strangers are further apart. Causing hate crimes to be on the rise. This will be their stories.

Normally, I would welcome this show with open arms. But due to my hometown being mentioned on his new CBS show FBI in a way that is a slap on real hate crime attempts there, I cannot watch this show. I do not trust him to fictionalize real cases without hurting people who are involved with the real case. Since I do not want to spoil FBI, all I will say is they created a fictional scenario that really is a slap to my hometown’s face. I am still pissed and I saw that episode over a month ago. That is how wrong it was to me and I am sure it will be to the residents of Riverdale, NY when they see it.

Chicago Med’s season finale is so exciting, it might send you to the hospital

Tonight at 10p on NBC, it is time for the season finale of Chicago Med. Just like last year, it ends with Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt). Although a lot happens before we get to that moment.

It is time for Dr. Rhodes (Colin Donnell) and Dr. Becker (Norma Kuhling) to separate the conjoined baby twins. The only problem is Rhodes does not want to operate because he lost a patient on last week’s episode. He decides to watch the surgery being done, but he won’t participate. Then when something goes wrong, he has to decide whether or not to go in to help Becker.

Talking about decisions, Dr. Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) is ready to propose to Dr. Manning (Torrey DeVitto). Will this on again, off again couple finally get their happy ending?

Two homeless teens come into the hospital because they are sick and turns out they have something very contagious. Now Dr. Choi (Brian Tee) has to go to the encampment to check on the other teens. When he gets there, he is shocked to find out that his sister is there. She never went to Vegas and she has been living there without him knowing. When he gets her back to the hospital, he tells April (Yaya DaCosta) she is moving back in with them. Something she does not want. Who will he choose?

Dr. Reese’s psychopathic father (Rachel DiPillo) is recovering from his transplant. She is getting closer to him and Dr. Charles is getting closer to confirming he is a murderer. He finally discovers the clue that might answer it all. What happens when he confronts him about the evidence?

It is a jam-packed hour you don’t want to miss. Then you have to try not to remember we are over 4 months away from finding out what happens next. Hiatuses are cruel.

Monica Raymund announces she is leaving Chicago Fire
May 15th, 2018 under Dick Wolf. [ Comments: none ]

Remember on last week’s season finale of Chicago Fire, Gabby and Casey got into a fight and it looked she was leaving him to do work in Puerto Rico? You thought it felt a little forced, well there was a reason for that.

Monica Raymund confirmed today that she has decided not to return for the show’s seventh season. She wrote a long note on social media that says she is ready to move on and thankful for her time on the show.

Raymund’s departure means that none of the original women will be on the show anymore. Lauren German was killed off at the end of season 2 and sadly actress DuShon Monique Brown passed away earlier this year.

When it comes to how the show got rid of Dawson, I am glad they did not kill off her character. The first few episodes would have been centered around that. Now it will be just about how Casey handles her leaving him.

Are you sad to see her go?
