Jimmy Kimmel is going to host the Emmys on September 20th
June 16th, 2020 under Coronavirus, Emmys, Jimmy Kimmel. [ Comments: none ]

The Emmys is the first, and probably only, major awards show to air on its original date this year. While the Tonys is on hold because of the coronavirus pandemic and the Oscars will be delayed two months until April 25th, ABC says f*ck it. They are going on with the show on September 20th, and Jimmy Kimmel will be the master of ceremonies.

I bet you have a lot of questions, and the late night host has all the answers. Here they are, “I don’t know where we will do this or how we will do this or even why we are doing this, but we are doing it and I am hosting it.” There you go!

ABC says they will announce further details at a later time. No sh!t, Sherlock. I doubt they will be able to do it in a theater with a full audience.

My friend and I were discussing that yesterday. She is like they can do it without an audience. I said, “The nominees and the presenters have to be there. What are they going to do, put all of the losers on the upper levels?” Then I added, “Imagine Jason Bateman looking down at the first floor and seeing the probable winner in his category there while all of the other losers are on the same level as him. We would see a lot of sad actors who knew they lost on our televisions before they actually found out.”

The other option is they can do like other unnamed awards shows and only invite the winners. How boring would it be if Alex Borstein was the only Supporting Actress in a Comedy sitting there while Kate McKinnon is home, eating ice cream, and watching TV’s biggest night on her TV? No fun at all.

Actually, I would rather watch the losers watch the show than the winners accept their awards. Let’s get to see those pissed off faces on our televisions. That I would tune in to watch.

Are you going to tune in to see what is most like going to be a huge mess? In Kimmel’s defense, what can be worst than hosting during the whole La La Land/Moonlight fiasco? This is a cakewalk as compared to that infamous Oscar night

The Bold and the Beautiful is the first show to go back in production
June 16th, 2020 under Coronavirus, TV Soaps. [ Comments: none ]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuqZHJyWXTk
Ever since late March, television production has been halted because of the coronavirus pandemic. While most shows can wait to get back to work a little while longer, soap operas cannot. Now that Governor Gavin Newsom has given Hollywood permission the literal green light to go back to work, The Bold and the Beautiful is going to begin filming tomorrow. They will be the first US broadcast show to do that.

According to Deadline, the cast and crew were all tested for COVID-19 yesterday. They will continue to be tested from now on to make sure they do not have it. Everyone will be required to wear masks when they are not on camera or in makeup.

To make sure they are following the rules, CBS hired a COVID-19 coordinator to monitor the staff. (Where can I get that job? I have become a terror when it comes to making sure everyone is wearing masks in stores.)

Back to the show, the CBS soap operas, B&B and The Young and the Restless, were the first daytime dramas to run out of new episodes back in April, so it makes sense that they would be the first to go back to work. B&B is also the only half-hour show in the genre, so it is probably easiest for them to return.

However, they will not be returning to normal. Writers are reworking the scripts to have smaller amounts of the cast members on the set at any given time. They will also be working shorter hours so that they will have less interaction with each other.

Hopefully, things will go smoothly for them because everyone will be watching them to see how everything turns out. If they f*ck it up, everyone else will be f*cked. No pressure at all.

No word when their new episodes will start to air, but it could be as early as next month.

We do not know when the other soaps will go back into production, but Days of our Lives still has a few months of new shows in their stockpile. They should be last, since they are a well-oiled machine.

The Oscars are delayed until to April 25th
June 15th, 2020 under Coronavirus, Oscars. [ Comments: none ]

Oscars/Facebook

Today, the Television Academy announced that the Creative Emmys is going virtual, they canceled the Governors Ball, and they are still not sure what they are going to do with the Emmys on September 20th. because of the coronavirus pandemic.

While TV’s night is still questionable, the movies’ night is not. The Movie Academy revealed today that the Oscars are moving from February 28th to April 25th. Not only that, they extended the date that studios have to release their films in the theaters. Instead of New Year’s Eve being the cutoff date, the studios now have until the day when the Oscars were supposed to have aired. There goes my friend’s chances of his movie Bloodshot getting a nomination for Best Picture.

According to the Associated Press, this is the fourth time they have been delayed. “The ceremony was pushed back a week because of disastrous flooding in Los Angeles in 1938. In 1968, it was delayed two days following the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. And in 1981, it was put off for 24 hours after President Ronald Reagan was shot in Washington D.C. The 1981 decision was made four hours before the broadcast was scheduled to begin.”

It will be intersting to see where our world will be in April, and if they can go on as they have gone on in the past.

As of now, when it comes to the bigger awards shows, the Tonys is indefintely postposed and no word on the Grammys, Golden Globes and SAG Awards. I am sure the latter two will be affected by AMPAS’s decision. I mean, they can’t have a different eligibility date than the Oscars. Can they?

Was anyone else hoping that Awards season was just outright cancelled?

Garth Brooks is doing a concert event at drive-in theaters on June 27th
June 11th, 2020 under Coronavirus, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood. [ Comments: 3 ]

Ever since the world has been on lockdown because of the coronavirus pandemic, live music has been silenced. No one knows when we will be able to go to a concert again.

Actually, that is no longer true. Garth Brooks announced today on Good Morning America that on June 27th, he will be doing the first concert in nearly three months. What? How? Where? Why?

Brooks and Encore Live have teamed up for a one-night event at around 300 drive-in theaters across the US. For $100 per vehicle, you can bring your family and friends from low places in a car or a truck, and watch Garth do what he does best on the big screen. That is performing. His wife is better at cooking on the small one. I say that with love Trisha Yearwood.

Anyways, it is a creative and safe way to enjoy a concert again, and I am happy they are making it happen. Hopefully, this could become a weekly event. There are two musicians that I would pay for in this type of scenario, and they are Bon Jovi and Madonna. Who would you pay to see?

In order for us to get more shows, then we have to go to this one. Tickets will be available on June 19th at the overpriced Ticketmaster. How generous would it be if they waved their service charge?

Another nice thing would be if they put the cars in the front and trucks in the back. If they don’t, then all of y’all tall people will finally understand why us shorter people hate standing behind you on the floor at a show.

Soap actress Judi Evans contracts COVID-19 while she is in the hospital
June 9th, 2020 under Coronavirus, TV Soaps. [ Comments: none ]

On May 21st, Judi Evans fell off of a horse, and she was rushed to the hospital with several broken bones. That was the only the beginning of her problems. According to Soap Opera Digest, doctors discovered a clot in her lungs that was not related to the accident. They said the accident saved her life. However, being hospitalized has risked it.

Her rep, Howie Tiger Simon, explained how:
I spoke to Judi on Sunday and she is STILL in the hospital – 23 days now and counting.
She contracted COVID-19 while there and she had what is known as the COVID blood clots in her legs and she nearly had both legs amputated on two different occasions. She had mild symptoms – fever, aches, a cough and the blood clots. On top of everything, when she went into surgery on one of her legs, they forgot to numb the leg and cut into her leg while she was fully conscience with no numbing of the area! However speaking to her on Sunday, she was in good spirits and back to Judi “humor” despite all these spiraling turn of events. She has said she appreciates all the prayers for her and they’ve helped her mentally, physically and spiritually! She just wants to continue to test negative on COVID19 before she can go home and get the rest she so needs!!!

Hopefully, the Days of Our Lives star will be able to go home soon and recover. Evans looked good on Good Morning America today with all she has been going through.
