For a year, movie theaters have been closed in Hollywood and Los Angeles. But that is going to change next week because Governor Gavin Newsom gave them the go-ahead to reopen. However, they will only be able to operate at 25% capacity at first. 25% is better than nothing.
This news is a huge sigh of relief for movie execs because now they can release big-budget movies where they belong, on the big screen.
Do you feel comfortable going to the movies, or not yet? Until I get the vaccine, I don’t feel comfortable doing anything indoors outside of my house.
For over 40 years, Joan Jett has been singing that she doesn’t give a damn about her Bad Reputation. However, the singer, 62, does care about the reputation she would get if she didn’t get the COVID-19 vaccine. So today she went and got it.
Now, she can go back to not caring about her Bad Reputation.
It is very important that we get the COVID-19 vaccine so that we can get as close to normal as we can get. However, so many people are still resistant to get it.
The CDC’s Ad Council teamed up with four of the former Presidents and their wives to ask people to get the shot as they did.
If Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter, Bill and Hillary Clinton, George W, and Laura Bush, and Barack and Michelle Obama can get it, then you can too.
Please, if you can get the vaccine, then get it when it is available to you. Too many people have died or suffered the horrible side effects of the virus. How many more people do we have to lose to say enough is enough.
Until we have reached the level of herd immunity, wear a mask, wash your hands, get the shot, social distance, and think of other people besides yourself. Stop being selfish.
In case you haven’t heard, Dolly Parton gave Vanderbilt University $1 million in order to find a vaccine for COVID-19. It worked, and they came up with the Moderna Vaccine.
As a present, they gave her the vaccine for free today. Don’t tell her that everyone is getting it for free.
Now that the legend got the shot, we don’t have to worry about losing her to the virus. Hopefully, others will follow her example and get the shot, when it is available to them, too. Please get it when you can.
BTW I will never understand why they didn’t name the vaccine after Miss Dolly. If they did, then people would be lined up to get it. Heck, I would be on line. Actually, I already am on line because I am not throwing away my shot.
It has been almost a year since the credits rolled at NYC movie theaters. However, that is all expected to change on March 5th. That is because Governor Andrew Cuomo announced today that they are cleared to let the popcorn start popping again on that date.
“Governor Cuomo’s announcement that movie theatres can reopen in New York City in the first week of March is another important step towards restoring the health of the movie theatre industry and of our Company. We are excited to announce that AMC, the largest movie theatre exhibitor in New York City, will reopen all 13 of our theatres in New York City beginning March 5,” Adam Aron, CEO and President of AMC Entertainment said. “We will do so with the highest devotion to the health and safety of our guests and associates through our AMC Safe & Clean policies and protocols, which were developed in consultation with Clorox and with current and former faculty at the prestigious Harvard University School of Public Health. AMC Safe & Clean includes social distancing & automatic seat blocking in each auditorium, mandatory mask wearing, and upgraded air filtration with MERV-13 air filters, as well as many other important health, sanitization and cleanliness efforts.”
One of the biggest differences for moviegoers is that a sold-out showing will mean that only 25% of the seats will be occupied. No more sneaking into the theater to catch another movie for free. You will stick out like a sore thumb.
This is great news for New York City. If movie theaters can successfully open up, then Broadway should not be far behind. Manhattan desperately needs that. The same way Hollywood needs to have movies back on the big screen.
On that note, what will be the first release? As of now, it will be Disney’s Raya and the Dragon. Tom & Jerry that opens this Friday, will be sharing the marquee with the animated film.
This is a start. Let’s hope they don’t f*ck it up.
Do you feel comfortable going back into the theater, or do you still need some time?
