CBS still hearts Bob Hearts Abishola
January 25th, 2023 under Chuck Lorre. [ Comments: none ]

CBS announced today that it picked up Bob Hearts Abishola for a fifth season. The Chuck Lorre comedy joins Ghosts, The Neighborhood, Young Sheldon, The FBIs, The Equalizer, and Fire Country on the 2023-2024 schedule.

The thing I love most about this show is how accurate it is to Nigerians. My dad had Nigerian aides, and I see so much of them in the characters in the series. I respect it when a show gets it right.

I am going to B Negative because CBS cancelled B Positive and more
May 12th, 2022 under CBS, Chuck Lorre. [ Comments: 10 ]

CBS killed more shows than one of their procedurals kill in an episode. Gone are B-Positive, Good Sam, How We Roll, and Magnum, P.I.

I have a feeling they are only going to have four comedies on the schedule in the Fall, and they are The Neighborhood, Bob Hearts Abishola, Young Sheldon, and Ghosts.

Personally, I never understood why they never did a Chuck Lorre night of comedy. They had four sitcoms from him.

America pulled out of Afghanistan, CBS pulls the plug on United States of Al
May 11th, 2022 under Chuck Lorre. [ Comments: none ]

CBS is starting to swing the ax, and they yelled timber to United States of Al.

I think they are making a mistake. Not only is the sitcom funny, but it also has an important message. We were able to learn about Afghan culture through Al’s character.

You see, the show is about Al (Adhir Kalyan), an Afghan who worked as an interpreter for the US troops in Afghanastin. He met Riley (Parker Young), a US Marine stationed there, and he invited Al to come back to America with him.

The season 2 premiere dealt with Al’s family being caught in the collapse of Afghanistan, and Al trying to get his sister out of the country.

Chuck Lorre knows how to create shows that are loyal to their character’s cultures. It is a shame that CBS didn’t stick with it. They better at least stay with B-Positive, or I will be negative.

Before Vernee Watson was the head nurse on Bob Hearts Abishola, she was a Sweathog on Welcome Back, Kotter. She has come a long way since she made her debut on the sitcom in 1975 when she was just 21 years old.
