We have not had new episodes of Young Sheldon, Ghosts, and So Help Me Todd, since May. And they are finally back on CBS tonight.

The night starts with Young Sheldon at 8p, and it picks up right after the tornado hits Medford. MeeMaw (Annie Potts) saw that her house was destroyed, and that means she, her future daughter-in-law Mandy (Emily Osment), and her granddaughter have nowhere to live.

Well, they do. They can stay across the street at her daughter’s house. Luckily, there is a little more room there because Mary (Zoe Perry) and Sheldon (Iain Armitage) are in Germany so that he can study at one of their colleges. When Mary finds out about the tornado, she wants to fly home, but Sheldon is insistent they stay. So they do.

Back in Medford, Missy (Raegan Revord) is in charge. Even though she is the youngest person, minus the baby, in the household, she is the most mature. She takes over and keeps the house in order. And they are going to need it while her mother is overseas.

It is not like her father (Lance Barber) or her older brother (Montana Jordan) are up for the job. And they are happy to let her do the job.

Even though their World has been turned upside down, the Coopers have their stuff together.

And they also bring so much laughter and so much heart. It makes me sad that this is the series last season. Enjoy it while you can.

Then at 8:30p, we finally find out who was sucked up on Ghosts! And it has been tortorous waiting this long.

So, who will Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) and Sam (Rose McIver) find out who has moved on? Is it Thor (Devan Chandler), Sass (Román Zaragoza), Hetty (Rebecca Wisocky), Isaac (Brandon Scott Jones), Nigel (John Hartman), Alberta (Danielle Pinnock), Flower (Sheila Carrasco), Pete (Richie Moriarty), or Trevor (Asher Grodman)?

I am not going to tell you who it is. But I will tell you that despite several ghosts making guest appearances, it is one of the souls I mentioned above.

It is not who I thought it was. But their departure makes sense.

Even though we are losing someone we love, Ghosts still delivers a heartfelt episode that you just want to hug.

I didn’t realize how much I missed this sitcom until I watched the season 3 premiere. I am so happy it is back! Never leave me for that long again.

Then at 9p, So Help Me Todd is back with its best episode to date.

Now that Todd (Skylar Astin) is a licensed Private Investigator again, he has set up shop in his mother’s law firm.

Margaret (Marcia Gay Harden), who has just been promoted to partner, is not going to allow him to do that. If he wants to use their offices, he has to work only for her. But, more on that later.

As soon as Margeret walks into the office, she is assigned her first job as partner. And that task is to lay off some of the staff because they have lost several accounts and need the money.

She doesn’t want to do that, so she takes on the case of a morning anchor (Lisa Rinna) who is accused of killing her co-anchor live on the air.

Together, the mom and son are going to try to find out who really did it. And it is a good thing that Todd put out feelers because the person who might know more about the murder wants to hire him to clear his name.

What does he know? And is he the person they need to solve the case?

And if that is not enough. Margaret has to deal with the fact that her husband, who ran away to Iceland without telling her he was going, is back, just when she found a new man to be in her life.

It is a lot. But this show is a fun roller coaster ride you don’t want to get off of. It is a fast-moving, entertaining show that leaves you guessing until the final reveal. Plus, the characters play off of each other so well that you tune in to watch their chemistry like you did Laurel & Hardy.

CBS is ending their last Chuck Lorre sitcom
November 29th, 2023 under Chuck Lorre. [ Comments: none ]

For the last 20 years, CBS has had at least one Chuck Lorre sitcom on their schedule. But it looks like they are ending that funny tradition because today they announced that they are saying goodbye to Bob Hearts Abishola.

“We are so proud to call BOB ♥ ABISHOLA a CBS comedy as it helped establish a new generation of programming at the Network,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. “This series expertly showcased a family love story and workplace comedy about the immigrant experience with heartfelt humor and emotion while also authentically portraying Nigerian culture. It’s a testament to the incomparable Chuck Lorre, the amazing creative team led by Al Higgins, Gina Yashere and Matt Ross, and the talents of Billy Gardell, Folake Olowofoyeku and the entire cast for making this show and its characters come to life and resonate with viewers. We plan to celebrate it this spring and give fans the most amazing episodes to remember it by.”

This news comes just two weeks after CBS revealed that Lorre’s other sitcom, Young Sheldon, the prequel to The Big Bang Theory, will be saying goodbye in May.

Can CBS survive without a Chuck Lorre sitcom? I wish I could say that Ghosts and The Neighborhood are strong enough to carry the network. But I can’t.

So, if I were the execs, I would be sending a Brinks truck to Lorre’s house and say to him what can we do to continue your legacy with our network! Because we know that C in CBS stands for Chuck Lorre.

Bon Hearts Abishola’s fifth season premieres on February 12th, and the series finale will air on May 13th.

Are you as sad as I am that the sitcom is ending? Tell me in the comments.

Young Sheldon won’t get any older after this season
November 14th, 2023 under Chuck Lorre. [ Comments: none ]

CBS announced today that this season of Young Sheldon, the Big Bang Theory spinoff, will be its last.

“Being able to tell the origin of Sheldon Cooper, and expanding the story to include the entire Cooper family has been a wonderful experience,” said executive producers Steve Holland, Steven Molaro and Chuck Lorre. “We are grateful to our fans for embracing this chapter of the Coopers these past six seasons, and on behalf of the entire YOUNG SHELDON family, we’re excited to share this final season with you.”

The one-hour series finale will air on May 16th.

Sadly, this will be the first of many shows we will be saying goodbye to this season.

Bob Hearts Abishola demotes all but two of their actors
April 27th, 2023 under Chuck Lorre. [ Comments: none ]

Back in January, CBS picked up Bob Hearts Abishola for a 5th season, and everyone was happy about it. That is until a few days ago. Because 11 out of the 13 cast members found out they were being demoted from series regular to recurring.

According to Deadline, Billy Gardell as Bob and Folake Olowafoyeku as Abishola will appear in all 13 episodes. However, Matt Jones as Douglas, Tony Okengbowa as Kofo, Barry Shabaka Henley as Uncle Tunde, Shola Adewusi as Auntie Olu, Bayo Akinfemi as Goodwin, Christine Ebersole as Dottie, Maribeth Monroe as Christina, Saidah Afrika Ekulona as Edunoluwa, Gina Yashere as Kemi, Travis Wolfe, Jr. as Dele, and Vernee Watson as Gloria will appear in a minimum of five episodes. That is, if they decided to sign on. They are not being held to exclusivity and can find other work if they opt to do that.

Deadline says that they are not sure if the series will go past the 13 episodes. The 13th episode could be the series finale.

While I would hate for this Chuck Lorre sitcom to end, I can understand their decision.

But I hope they consider that the show has been so positive for the Nigerian community. And we need more shows that highlight other cultures and not less.

Charlie Sheen and Chuck Lorre kiss and made up
April 18th, 2023 under Charlie Sheen, Chuck Lorre. [ Comments: none ]

Remember when Charlie Sheen and EP Chuck Lorre worked together on Two and a Half Men? And then, the actor was fired because he was reportedly struggling with drugs and alcohol, along with having a public meltdown and going off on his boss.

Well, that boss is a masochist because Deadline is reporting that Sheen and Lorre are going to be working together again.

Lorre has a comedy called How To Be a Bookie coming to Max, and he hired Sheen for a recurring role. The show is described as a veteran bookie (Sebastian Maniscalco) struggles to survive the impending legalization of sports gambling, increasingly unstable clients, family, co-workers, and a lifestyle that bounces him around every corner of Los Angeles high and low.

We don’t know what Sheen will be doing on the series, but I am hoping he is one of the unstable clients. He won’t even have to act if that is the case. Maybe that is why Lorre opted to work with Sheen again.

Who knows, maybe Lorre will also want to work with some of his other troublesome stars like Roseanne Barr, Brett Butler, and/or Cybill Shepherd on Bookie? So yeah, he is a masochist, but is he that much of one?
