For some reason, CBS is keeping the Golden Globes around
March 25th, 2024 under Awards, CBS. [ Comments: none ]

NBC parted ways with the Golden Globes because they reportedly had a history of lack of diversity.

It looked like no one wanted to air the award shows that parted ways with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and taken over by Dick Clark Productions.

I guess that sounded good to CBS because they decided to air it this year. Even though it was not a ratings success, the network is happy enough with it to give it five more years.

“We’re so proud to continue to call CBS our home for the Golden Globes,” said Jay Penske, chairman and CEO of Penske Media and Dick Clark Productions. “CBS stepped up for the Globes during a very challenging time, and inherently understood its value, while having the foresight, imagination and conviction to bring this iconic show to its many platforms. We’ve long admired CBS’ commitment to some of the greatest cultural live events and partnering for the long term further cements this show’s legacy and incredible place in history.”

The Globes must be cheap because why else would they keep them going in a television world with way too many awards shows?

CBS isn’t ghosting Ghosts or Fire Country
March 12th, 2024 under CBS, Ghosts. [ Comments: none ]

We are two months away from finding out what broadcast shows will be back next season. But we don’t have to wait until then to find out if Ghosts and Fire Country will be on the schedule. That is because CBS announced that both shows were renewed for another season.

“Ghosts and Fire Country are proven viewer favorites on both broadcast and streaming thanks to exceptional storytelling, talented actors and an ever-growing fan base,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. “We are elated to keep the momentum going and bring them back to CBS next season.”

The news is not a surprise because both shows are two of the network’s top-rated series and deliver strong episodes week after week.

Fire Country’s Billy Burke reads fan’s hot comments about him!
March 8th, 2024 under CBS. [ Comments: none ]

Billy Burke doesn’t only star on one of the hottest shows on television, but the Fire Country star is also one of the hottest actors out there.

So hot that people have written sexy comments about him. And CBS asked him to read them aloud to us. You can tell he was blushing on both sides of his mustache!

I don’t know who needs to be watered down by the hose more: Burke or his fans. I say it is a tie! And I know who I want to see all wet!

You can watch him surrounded by fire tonight and every Friday at 9p.

Chuck Lorre will have a series on CBS next season

Last year, CBS announced that Chuck Lorre’s last two sitcoms, Bob Hearts Abishola and Young Sheldon, were airing their final seasons this year. So it looked like, for the first time in 21 years, CBS would be without one of Lorre’s series.

But today, CBS announced that they picked up a spinoff of Young Sheldon, which is a spinoff of The Big Bang Theory.

Sheldon’s brother, Georgie (Montana Jordan), his fiancee, Mandy (Emily Osment), and their daughter are getting their own series next season.

“It has been a privilege to spend the last seven years with Sheldon and the Cooper family and now this wonderful journey will continue with Georgie and Mandy,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. “Chuck and both Steves [Steven Molaro and Steve Holland] have done a masterful job developing these characters and entertaining generations of fans with relatable, heartwarming stories brought to life by Montana and Emily. We eagerly look forward to the next chapter in this beloved universe.”

I hope they find a way to incorporate Annie Potts as MeeMaw and Jerry O’Connell as the future voice of Georgie. O’Connell played Georgie on TBBT.

This is the second spinoff that CBS ordered for next season. They also ordered NCIS: Origins, which is about Agent Gibbs’ beginning with the federal agency.
