The surviving members of Carol Burnett & Friends were reunited today to tape something special for an upcoming release of a DVD for Time Life filled with The Lost Episodes from the beloved Variety Show. Vicki Lawrence shared several photos of Carol Burnett, Tim Conway, Lyle Waggoner (one of the richest people in Hollywood) and herself from the taping, but didn’t say what they were doing exactly and when the DVD would be released. By the looks of it several people were lucky enough to experience their reunion. I sincerely wish I was one of them, but, I guess, this is close enough.
Doesn’t seeing the quartet together again like that, just being a smile to your face?
If you miss Carol Burnett & Friends, you can watch it every night at 11p on MeTV!
Jorge Garcia Instragrammed this photo of himself with Carol Burnett looking like they were at a casual wedding, maybe their own; so I have to wonder if they have something to tell us? Nope, it was just the two of them posing together during a break while they were filming Hawaii Five-0. Which is kind of a bummer because they look sweet together. Don't you agree? BTW Hawaii Five-O is back on CBS this Friday at 9p.
Tonight at 10p on TV Land Carol Burnett and Tim Conway are reunited on a very funny episode of Hot in Cleveland, and you don’t want to miss it.
Victoria gets a call from her sister (Jean Smart) that she won an award in her hometown of Canoga Falls and she has to come home to accept it. Not one to turn down an award, she bring Melanie, Joy and Elka to join her. Only problem is her sister lied to get her home because she wants her take care of their mom (Carol Burnett). She has had enough of being the caregiver and wants Victoria to finally take some of the responsibility off of her. Will she or won’t she don’t it?
You have to tune into a hilarious episode with so many TV legends, you can’t believe how many of them can be in one episode.
When I heard that Carol Burnett and Tim Conway were going to be on the show, I had to go see the show tape. It was one of my favorite LA moments to see that many greats doing what they do best in front of me. What I am sad you won’t see, is the long standing ovation Carol Burnett got when she came out to the unsuspecting audience. It had to be around 5 minutes long because everyone was so thrilled to see her. Then later in the episode, when Tim Conway was revealed the applauds were again long and loud. All of that equals the laughs Betty White got when she did Conway’s infamous walk, but sadly you won’t see that. It is a just a memory that will forever live in my mind.
While you won’t see all of that, what you will see will give you plenty of enjoyment and laughter so tune in.
Carol Burnett was on The Tonight Show and Jay Leno asked her how she got her start. The red head then explained that back when she was a sophomore at UCLA, she was in a musical comedy workshop and her professor asked her to perform at a party. A man at the party came up to her and asked her what she wants to do with her life, and she said to be doing musical comedy in NY. When he asked why she wasn’t there, she said she didn’t have any money. So the man offered to loan her the money and she didn’t believe him. Well he was serious and he gave her $1,000 to begin her career, but he had three stipulations. He said she had to pay him back in 5 years, help others like he helped her and never reveal who he is. Well she paid him back, helped others and has yet to reveal who he is!
Then she went on to say that years after she paid him back, she had lunch with him. As she shared with the NBC host about their encounter, she started to tear up and so did I. What an amazing story to happen to such a deserving woman.
So watch her tell that inspirational story and the next time you can help someone start their career make sure to do it. You never know, you could be helping the next Carol Burnett out to be a star in their line of business.
And below is a little video that the NBC host shared of Miss Burnett when she first started out saying hello to her all of her family members, friends and everyone she ever met! I just want to say thank you to mysterious benefactor for helping to give us the legendary Carol Burnett!
Hot in Cleveland is getting even this hotter August because Tim Conway and Carol Burnett are going to guest star on the TV Land sitcom. Betty White’s TV sister (Burnett) on Mama’s Family will play her roommate Victoria’s mother Penny. Conway will return as Elka’s (White) ex-boyfriend and he will have his eyes on Penny. And we will have tears coming from our eyes because we will be laughing so hard.
Ms. White once told me that she can’t keep a straight face around Conway, so imagine how hard it is going to be for her when she has to work with these two comedic legends together. I predict there will be so much laughter that we will wish we are wearing a pair of Lady Pants just like the ones that Victoria wore in that Japanese commercial.
