Burt Reynolds passed away today at the age of 82 from cardiac arrest according to Us Weekly.
Reynolds started his career out as a stuntman and wound up becoming a legendary actor. When he first started out, he did several small guest star roles on television, but then he became the go-to movie star thanks to films like Smokey and the Bandit, The Cannonball Run, The Longest Yard, Deliverance, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and many more.
Then in the latter part of last century, he went back to his TV roots and starred in Evening Shade and Out of This World. He also guest-starred on shows like Cybill, The Golden Girls and Beverly Hills, 90210.
Then in this century, he continued to do both. He even had a few more movies in the works. The last movie he will be remembered for is The Last Movie Star that got him a lot of press recently. A movie that almost seemed like it was loosely based on him. A washed-up actor who was still revered to a few and forgotten by some
He and his mustache will never be forgotten. And not just because he was the first nude male centerfold, but because he was one of the greatest actors of his time. Today, honor him by watching one of his many many films. There is one for everyone.
Last week, Burt Reynolds was on the Today show and at the end of his interview he told Hoda Kotb, “I am so proud of you for not having your lips larger.” Today, when he was on Steve Harvey’s talk show, the host asked if he wanted to clarify those comments. He did.
The actors explained, “I meant is as compliment because, you know, women are getting their lips made larger and I don’t understand it but it is fine with me.” It would have been fine if he stopped there, but he didn’t. He added, “I could just bounce off them.” The audiences’ shocked faces say it all. Like are we supposed to laugh at that?
After making matters so much worse, he then really explained what he meant on last week. He is not a fan of silicone lips and he likes them all natural. While that is better, it is still something you say during a commercial break and not on camera.
Burt Reynolds, they don’t make them like him anymore. I am not sure if that is a bad thing.
For those of you wondering how his ex Loni Anderson looks now, then click here!
Before Burt Reynolds was driving trucks in Smokey and the Bandit, he was steering the Riverboat. How different that the 23-year-old look without facial hair back in 1959?
For years, Burt Reynolds has said that Sally Field is the one that got away. Yesterday, when he was on Conan, the host wanted to know if they still communicate. The Bandit told him, “I try. She doesn’t seem to be as interested as I am to have a relationship, start up again.” Then the actor added, “I understand that,” and the audience gave him a sad ahhh.
He admits that he still sends her notes and postcards to no avail. Now he is going to try to send her money. Will it work? Does not sound like it.
Personally, I am more surprised that she is single than her rejecting Reynolds now. I am shocked that no one is with her now. I would love to see her with Jack Nicholson, the good girl with the very bad boy! They would be so cute together!
Burt Reynolds was on Conan O’Brien’s talk show tonight and the latter wanted to know everything about the former. For example, he wanted to know more about that time the Bandit took it all off for Cosmo.
Back in 1972, he shocked and delighted the world by being the first huge male celebrity to pose naked for a Cosmopolitan centerfold and 45 years later we are still talking about. Was he nervous to do that? The last movie star told the TBS host that he got plastered for the shoot.
When he got there, the photographer told him about the first scene they were going to shoot for that day. Reynolds thought he was only being photographed nude on the couch. Eventually he decided to go with and told the photographer that he was going to take off his robe and the man behind the camera should roll with it.
When it was finally time, off came the robe and on went his hands over his longest yard. At that moment, he shared with us his realization, “I’m sad to say, I have very small hands.”
Thanks to a 2016 presidential debate, we all know what that means. Or should I say used to mean?
