Before Anthony Michael Hall was chasing down Molly Ringwald’s underwear in Sixteen Candles, he was searching for bugs in The Gold Bug. How cute was the 11-year-old in that 1980 telemovie.
Tonight at 9p, Fox has a new reality competition show where you want to get eliminated. Why do the celebrity contestants want to lose Nation’s Dumbest? Because who wants to be known as the Nation’s Dumbest?
Who is trying not to win the show? The students are: television personality Hilaria Baldwin, actress and model Carmen Electra, actor Anthony Michael Hall, actor Jon Heder, musician and actor Chase Hudson, rapper and actor Ice-T, singer-songwriter Elle King, former NFL quarterback Matt Leinart, television personality and physician Dr. Drew Pinsky, stunt performer and comedian Steve-O, singer and performer JoJo Siwa, and entrepreneur and former presidential candidate Andrew Yang.
The game starts off with each contestant taking part individually in a logic test presented by the show’s teacher/host, Jack Whitehall. If they get it right, they get a point. If they don’t, then they don’t get one.
After the test, they go to a classroom where they answer basic questions. They can score another point.
After school, it is time to take part in a team challenge. Personally, I think that next week’s was biased towards one team. But that is another story. Anyways, they get another point.
Finally, it is time for them to answer questions. Whatever amount of points they have is what they start off with. If they get a question incorrect, they lose a point. When they get to 0, they are sent back to the classroom and move on to be the Nation’s Dumbest. This goes on until the smartest person is left standing. That person goes home a loser, or is it a winner?
So you have to wonder what you would do in that situation. Is it smart or dumb to be eliminated? What would you do?
When it comes to the contestants, Fox did a great job casting for the most part. Dr. Drew is awful, pompous, and unlikable as always. JoJo is not far behind. Surprisingly, Ice-T, Anthony Michael Hall, and Andrew Yang are the funniest ones of the group.
And that is not the only surprising thing about them. Don’t underestimate these celebrities. Just because we think they are dumb does not mean that they are. So get ready to be shocked by who goes home tonight.
And the biggest shocker is that a competition show can still be original and enjoyable to watch. And we need more of that that.

Believe it or not, but The Breakfast Club is nearing its 40th reunion, I mean anniversary on March 24th. However, we don’t have to wait that long to see the princess, the nerd, the criminal, and the basket case together again. That is because they had their own little reunion at Rhode Island Comic Con this weekend.
Thankfully, Michael Rosenbaum’s brother and sister-in-law wanted a photo with Molly Ringwald, Anthony Michael Hall, Judd Nelson, and Ally Sheedy. Therefore, we got this photo from the Smallville star.
I know that John Hughes is no longer with us. But I really wish someone would give us a sequel to this movie. Let’s see how they turned out. We’ve all wondered that, so let’s see how they would interact at their high school reunion.

Anthony Michael Hall has been acting since he was a kid. And now he is taking on his greatest role ever. On June 1st, he and his wife, Lucia Hall, welcomed their first child, a big baby boy who came into the world weighing 9 lbs., 7 oz.
The actor, 55, told People, “We have a big boy. In between his breastfeeding, I get to give him his bottles, and I can tell you, this kid has some appetite. He was born 9 lbs, 7 oz. at Cedars Sinai, and we were there for four days. And fortunately, when we came back home the next day, he just connected with mom and she’s been feeding him and taking care of him, as have I, ever since.”
The couple met on the film War Machine in 2017, got engaged in 2019, and tied the knot a year later.
Congrats to the new parents. Hopefully, their son will grow up and know not to share a girl’s underwear in the high school bathroom. Because if he does, he will have to spend his Saturdays in detention with The Breakfast Club!
