Kellie Pickler gets a record deal

Kellie Pickler, the folksy, season five "American Idol" finalist, has signed a record deal with 19 Recordings and Nashville-based BNA Records, an imprint of Sony BMG Nashville.
The first single from the 20-year-old North Carolina native is due at country radio in September. Her as-yet-untitled debut album will follow on Nov. 14. Pickler is recording the album with producer Blake Chancey in between dates on the current American Idols Live tour. Sony BMG Nashville is also home to season four "American Idol" winner Carrie Underwood, who signed with 19 Recordings and Arista Nashville following her win last year.

McPriss no longer guesting on The View?

Katharine McPhee was scheduled to guest host on Wednesday, but her name is no longer on the schedule.  She is still absent from the tour.  She is expected to join her fellow idols on tour sometime this week.

Canadian Idol guest coaches announced

Chart-topper Nelly Furtado is bringing her groovy new style to Canadian Idol.The sexy music star will coach Idol wannabes on the show’s first Top 10 episode this Monday. Furtado is just one of a several "all-star" guests booked to appear on the popular singing contest this season, CTV said Wednesday in a release. Others include singer/songwriters Cyndi Lauper and Chantal Kreviazuk and platinum-selling country artist Martina McBride. Also booked is former Styx singer Dennis DeYoung and former Supertramp front man Roger Hodgson.

Two-time Grammy Award winner KELLY CLARKSON, who is spending the summer covering the U.S. coast-to-coast for her "Addicted" tour, has just been signed to headline her first HBO concert event next February.The musical performance will take place at London’s historic Wembley Arena on Feb. 3, and will feature songs from her past two albums, such as "Miss Independent," "Since U Been Gone" and "Breakaway," as well as music from her much-anticipated third album, which will be released that same month.
