What was the real reason behind McPriss’ absence? |

Katharine McPhee, 22, missed the first part of the American Idols Live! tour after contracting a severe case of bronchitis and laryngitis, and doctors ordered the singer on total voice rest (she joins the tour July 27). Yet, sightings of the star abounded. Mere days before postponing her tour, McPhee was photographed swimming with actor boyfriend Nick Cokas, 41. She also had to defend her decision to attend a photo shoot on July 6, the day after the tour began without her, saying she was, “trying to utilize this downtime.” Meanwhile, a source says that McPhee (who said her five-year battle with bulimia was like “putting a sledgehammer to your vocal chords”) was missing the tour because of the eating disorder. “The bronchitis/laryngitis was a lie,” says the source. Her rep says that is “100 percent false.”

My friend thought that she was in rehab and not having vocal problems, guess she was right!

McPriss’ “big sexy announcement” tomorrow |

Tomorrow, Katharine McPhee will be in New York for a press conference built around what a press release calls a "Big Sexy announcement." I doubt that means she’s telling the world she’s marrying her boyfriend or anything; Big Sexy makes hairspray, mousse, shampoo, etc., so I’d say it’s a safe assumption we’re talking sponsorship deal. Other questions may be asked, of course, relating to voice problems, tour absences, new record, personal life, etc., so stay tuned.

She is doing everything but the tour and we should still love her big fat bulimic a$$? What and ever!

President Bush is about to come face-to-face with the one man who has his voting record beat.Bush plans to host “American Idol” Taylor Hicks and the other Top 10 finalists next Friday in the Oval Office. It will be the first time contestants from the hit television show have been invited to meet the president.Hicks won the most recent season’s contest May 24 after 63 million votes were cast for him in the season finale. That’s more than the 59 million that Bush got in 2004, a record in any U.S. presidential election. Although, to be fair, voters can cast more than one ballot on “American Idol.”The White House announced the Idols’ upcoming visit Friday as Bush traveled to Colorado for a Republican fundraiser. The meeting is scheduled for July 28, when the performers were scheduled to be in Washington for their “American Idols Live“ show at the Verizon Center. Hicks has a personal connection inside the White House: Susan Whitson, Laura Bush’s press secretary, taught him 9th grade English at Hoover High School in Birmingham, Ala.The finalists will get a tour of the White House before their audience with the president. It was unclear if runner-up Katharine McPhee would be among the group since she missed recent tour stops due to bronchitis and laryngitis.
