Two weeks ago Volkswagen released an ad with several dogs barking the Star Wars theme and now they released one with a dog being watched by aliens in at bar called The Dog Strikes Back. Personally I loved the Super Bowl commercial until they brought the bar scene in, although they had a great ending that left me gasping for air.
Last week we were teased with the Super Bowl ad featuring Ferris Bueller and today we are seeing the full length commercial with Bueller as Matthew Broderick. The actor slipped back into the role that made infamous for the new Honda CR-V and it is all types of awesomeness. Yes it would have been better if Rooney played his agent, Cameron and Sloane were involved somehow, his mother (who looks better now) was the one talking on the phone to him in the car and Charlie Sheen played the valet, but it was still pretty freaking incredible especially the ending.
Honda says that there are at least two dozen references to Ferris Bueller’s Day Off in the commercial, see how many you can get and list them in the comments?
BTW I faster believe that Matthew Broderick would drive a Honda CR-V anywhere in the world than I would believe J-Lo Fiat in The Bronx or anywhere else.

The Super Bowl is a just a week and a half away, and we are getting the first look at the commercials that will be airing during the big game.
The first ad is a teaser for an unknown company that is bringing back a well known man…Ferris Bueller. The mysterious company posted the video titled “Coming Soon” on YouTube and said “We hate to be such a tease, but on a day like today, we just have to. Stick it out until the Super Bowl, or take a “day off” on Monday and catch the big reveal.” When I watched the :10 preview, I thought the mystery company was a hotel. But then when I went to the YouTube page, the related videos on the side are for curtains. So I am ass-u-me-ing that the ad is for a window dressing store. What do you think it is for?
Then another ad that got its debut today is so much more obvious that you don’t have to be blinded by the light to know that it is for Audi. To say that ad doesn’t suck would be an understatement. It had me laughing out loud.
When I was studying advertising in college, my goal was to have an ad during the Super Bowl because that is when the best of the best air. It looks like this year won’t disappoint. Especially if the Giants win. Go Giants.
In a galaxy far far away, Volkswagen gathered a dozen dogs to bark out a song we all know very well. The twelve pups did the Star Wars theme in a way that has never been done before and should never be done again because the force was with this ad. Just arfdorable!!!
So what do dogs barking the John Williams song have to do with selling cars? Here is what the automobile manufacture posted with the ad on YouTube, “A canine chorus barks a familiar tune. Keep an eye out for our 2012 Game Day commercial—it will all make sense. Love Star Wars and Volkswagen? Create an Intergalactic Invite to your Big Game party here: http://vw.com/star-wars-invite.” Intrigued I am.
BTW it is very rare that a commercial comes on TV and makes me look up and replay it over and over, but that exactly what this ad did. Seriously doesn’t it make you want to howl at the moon?
So I was sitting watching the Hallmark Channel this weekend for Forever Lazy came on. For some reason I stopped what I was doing and paid attention to the commercial and I am so happy I did because half way through they had a line that made me laugh.
Forever Lazy is basically The Snuggie made into PJs, so what happens if you have to go to the bathroom when you are in it. Well here is the they described it in the ad, “Gotta go? No worries, Forever Lazy has zippered hatches in front and in back for great escapes when duty calls.” They said when duty calls and that made me laugh out loud. I know it is childish of me, but that line never gets old even if you do!!!
BTW is it wrong for me to want a Forever Lazy because it actually looks comfortable. That and I can answer answer the call when “duty calls”!
