In an era where every day a celebrity is in the press for doing something repugnant, it is nice to know there are still good guys out there. Like The Rock who flew a teenage out fan, who is on hospice, out to meet him. Not only did the teen meet his idol, DJ also set him and his mom up in the best hotel room he could and it was unbelievable. Making his trip even more memorable, in a time when everyone that knows Marik wishes they could forget all he is going through with cancer. For those few hours they did. Which is a blessing no words can express.
This is not the first DJ has done this, and it will not be the last. But this is a time when we need stories like this. We need them every day, but more now than in the past
Warning if you read all the posts you will cry because you wish you could do something to make Marik and his family’s life easier. Then you see what DJ did and it is so beautiful, it will bring tears to your eyes.
Tomorrow when you read about that guy, remember there are guys like The Rock that go beyond the call of duty and make a difference in so many lives for the better.
October 1st, the World was horrified when they heard that there was a shooting in Las Vegas aimed at an outdoor concert attended by thousands of people. With each passing hour, the news got worse and worse as we found out that 58 innocent people died and nearly 500 people were injured. We were sickened, saddened and angered. Then the stories came out about all of the heroes there were that night from first responders to the people at the concert to civilians who were passing by. It was the little bit of solace we needed to get through this tragedy.
There was one story from a hero we did not hear about and that was the story that Jesus Campos had to tell. Yesterday he told his side of the harrowing event that was about to unfold to Ellen DeGeneres. He is a security guard at the Bellagio who was just doing his job. That is until he got a call that would change his life forever. He went to check on door on the 32nd floor that was open for too long. He went up the stairwell from the floor below, but the door would not open. That is not supposed to happen, so he took the elevator to check out what was happening. That is when he realized the door was bolted up with brackets. He called engineering to check it out and that was when he heard what he thought was drilling. It turned out that it was gunshots and he had been shot. He called downstairs to let them know what was happening and did not even tell them that he had been shot.
At that moment, Stephen Schuck from engineering came up, and Campos told him to take cover. Saving his life. That was not the only life he directly saved that day, he also saved a female guest’s life who was coming out of her room. He told her to go back inside and she did. Then there are all the lives below, who were saved because he called in the shooting, stopping the f*cker earlier than he anticipated.
When Ellen offered the two men money, they refused it. Instead, she gave them tickets to their favorite sports teams and Shutterfly donated $25,000 in their names to GoFundMe page set up for the victims of that horrific night.
All of that makes him Campos a hero. But what sets him apart from a lot of other heroes, is just how humble he is. He did let them initially know that he was shot so that can work faster to get the shooter. Even though he was bleeding, he did not go to the hospital, so that he could help law enforcement. He did not take money that was offered to him. And most importantly, he does not comprehend all that he did that night and that he saved countless lives. He is not asking for credit, he just wants to be left alone to get over it. That is something we will grant him, but we will also never forget that this the face of a true hero. We need more people like him and we are glad that he was there night and will continue to be there for the rest of his life.
KABC’s Elex Michaelson was sent from Los Angeles to Houston to cover the horrible flooding they are having there from Hurricane Harvey. While doing a liveshot from a rescue boat, he met 92-year-old Shirley, who had all of her rescuers, the news station and the people in Houston, laughing when she told the reporter, “Oh, I didn’t realize (I was on TV). I would have worn my wig for the occasion.” She also flattered her Knights in Shining Armour, who carried her to their boat because she has bad knees and her son to help them flee to dry land as their community was put under a mandatory evacuation due to the rising waters.
Throughout the interview, she remained so positive even though she thought she would go down with the ship aka the house she has lived in with her son since 2000. Even though she did not want to leave, her son and her rescuers convinced her it was the right thing to do. And we are glad that they did because the other refugees are going to need her humor in the makeshift homes until they know the fate of their currents ones. Hopefully, more houses will survive than the estimates of the nearly 70,000 that are lost.
While Shirley was a big part of this interview, we also saw many other rescues going on in boats of all sizes. People, who had boats, came to the Houston area to save as many lives as possible. You can see that going on and that generosity warms my heart. Just when you think America has become a country full of hate, you see we are still full of love.
I admit it, I cried when I watched them sail down the street and all of these boats were there to help strangers. We are all good people and this liveshot proved it to me. May Gd bless all of you, and get you through this. I know he will.

We know that Donnie Wahlberg is a really good guy, and turns out he is an even better tipper. Yesterday during a tour stop with New Kids on the Block, he left the staff at a Waffle House, where they ate a ton of money, as in a $2,000 tip. Why? He explained, “My mom waited tables, and my dad tended bars– for years! So, when I walk into a #WaffleHouse, and the staff treats me like a king, you better believe I treat them like queens! Thanks to the team at @wafflehouseofficial Charlotte, NC! ❤️” Therefore, to the waiters and the waitress of the World; if you see the Blue Bloods star walk into your restaurant, then you better treat him like a king. It will literally be well worth your while.
BTW you know what shocks me about that check, is how did they spend $82.60 at a Waffle House? That place is cheaper than cheap and yet really yummy. Now I am craving their hash browns. Nothing better at 2a in the morning after a fun night of partying.
Micah Fowler not only plays a character on Speechless who has Cerebral Palsy, in real life the 19-year-old also has it. That is why him graduating from high school is a really big and incredible deal.
Yesterday after he accepted his diploma, he posted this message on Instagram:
I finally graduated!! 🎓There was a time where I never thought this day would come and I am so grateful to all the people who helped get me here. Southern Regional School District has been the greatest home for the last 6 years and they’ve been so fantastic to me all along. Also a big thank you to all the teachers I’ve had along the way at the Fredrick A. Priff School and Watertown Elementary! I am truly, deeply grateful. Thank you Southern and everyone there. Fowler is honestly one of my heroes and I am sincerely so proud of him! I just adore that huge smile on his face, one that is so well deserved.
