ABC’s latest PR nightmare
June 9th, 2016 under ABC. [ Comments: none ]

It has not been a good few months for ABC. First, their Head of Entertainment was replaced midseason. Then they announced that Michael Strahan was leaving Live with Kelly and Michael to join Good Morning America, and his co-host was blindsided by the news. Kelly Ripa was so upset about it that she went on strike for a week. Finally, ABC announced that they were not renewing Stana Katic’s contract, and there were a lot of rumors that her co-star Nathan Fillion and her did not get along. Fans took the internet and let it be known they would not watch the show without her. ABC did the only thing they could do, they cancelled the procedural in the 19th hour.
Just when it seemed like their troubles were over, comes an interview that was heard all over the World Wide Web today. The Real O’Neal’s Noah Galvin, who plays a recently out teen in a very Catholic world on the sitcom, sat down with Vulture and was brutally honest with them. He said that David Blaine “turned out to be the weirdest f*cking dude.” Told fans who Tweet him their problems, “I don’t have time to be your f*cking soothsayer.” On Colton Haynes recently coming out in 3 page Entertainment Weekly article, “That’s not coming out. That’s fucking pussy bullshit.” He said that Eric Stonestreet is “playing a caricature of a caricature of a stereotype of stereotype on Modern Family.” He talked about a guest star, who he says flirted with him so he asked the unknown actor if he was Gay. Galvin’s reaction to the actor telling him he didn’t know, “I’m more like, go with the flow. And I was like, Shut the f*ck up. Get out of my face with your wishy-washy bullsh!t answer. You’re a f*cking f@ggot. Like, I know you are. You know you are. Stop beating around the bush. Just go make out with me in my dressing room.” There is so much more.
One element was so slanderous, that Galvin issued its own apology for his comments and Vulture pulled the quote.
They say that there is no such thing as bad press, but this is a case where it is bad, very very bad. Here is an actor that no one knows, on a show that barely anyone watches and he p!ssed off all the wrong people. ABC now has 3 months to right his wrongs, but it wasn’t a headache they needed or wanted after all the other ones they have been going through.
Plus, they still have to make The View better, find a co-host for Kelly, figure out how to do better in the ratings and keep Shonda Rhimes happy. All of this controversial stuff going on and she is not part or it. She is slipping, where are Isaiah Washington, Katherine Heigl and Columbus Short when she really needs them? What’s next a Dancing with the Stars scandal? Maybe one for The Bachelor?
You know what? ABC needs to not only worry about their ratings, they also have to worry about their employees. Both seem to need a lot of work. Although they do have the best new drama of the Fall.

ABC’s Fall schedule is…
May 17th, 2016 under ABC. [ Comments: none ]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3_bDWTTLWc
ABC’s fall lineup is something to laugh about because they are adding another hour of comedy to their schedule. And a few years ago, people said comedy was dead. Guess they were wrong..
Missing from the Fall is Scandal, and you can thank Kerry Washington’s baby for that. Well at least partially. The must-see Shonda Thursday is dead for the Fall, but could be back in the midseason. Therefore, you Shondaholics can breath a little easier.
I am hoping that fans of The Middle will find it on Tuesday. I get why they did it, but it has been a Wednesday staple since it started. I also hope that The Goldbergs can launch Wednesdays, which I am sure it will be able to do.
Seriously, I am happy that comedies are coming back because we all need to laugh a lot more.

Last Man Standing literally was renewed at the 11th hour!
May 13th, 2016 under ABC, Tim Allen. [ Comments: none ]

Maybe it is because the show is called Last Man Standing, but ABC seems to like to renew this one last almost every year. In fact, Tim Allen broke the news on Twitter at 10:58pm that it would be back for a sixth season, hours after all the other shows on the network received their fates.
Hopefully his oldest daughter on the show saw his Tweet because earlier in the day, while all the other shows were finding out their futures, Amanda Fuller said on Twitter, “And how ridiculous is it that I’m am scrolling Twitter to found out our fate right now?!” Welcome to the year 2016, that is how actors find out if they will have a job in a few months or not.
When it comes to the renewal, I am so happy about it. This show gets better with age, and one of the rare comedies that looks at all sides of political story. That and it always makes laugh.

This game show news is so hot! How hot is it?
April 28th, 2016 under ABC, Alec Baldwin, Game Shows, Michael Strahan. [ Comments: 1 ]

It is so hot that Alec Baldwin just got a chubby over it. That’s because ABC is bringing back Match Game and he is hosting it. According to Vulture, the 10 1-hour episodes will air this summer at 10p after Celebrity Family Feud and $10,000 Pyramid hosted by Michael Strahan. The only thing ABC is missing is Hollywood Squares at 7p and then it would be a ’70s game show fan’s wet dream.
Actually I really like that we are getting a full night of game shows, and I hope that the networks will consider doing it in the regular season too. Lord knows that it will do better than what they have now for the most part.

UPDATE: ABC just confirmed the news about Match Game returning on June 26th. In the press release, they reveal that Baldwin is foregoing his salary. Why? He says that, “Hilaria and I are thrilled to donate this fee to arts related charities. And we look forward to having a lot of fun.” Normally, I don’t like him, but this one little notion completely changed my opinion of him. I wish more celebrities who don’t need the money would do things like this. Don’t you?

Courtney Thorne-Smith is traveling back to her Melrose Place days!
March 21st, 2016 under ABC, Beverly Hills 90210 / Melrose Place. [ Comments: none ]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QWhpbftjhA
First Busta Rhymes put on his dreads for the ’90s bases Fresh Off the Boat and now Courtney Thorne-Smith is moving back in to her old haunt for the ABC sitcom. According to Entertainment Weekly, Smith is going to guest star on the Melrose Place themed episode, April 5th. No word if she will be reprising her role as Allison Parker, herself in 1996 or someone else. But since she hasn’t aged since the nighttime soap went off the air, I am going to assume she will once again be playing the girl next door who made her a household name.
Now that Rhymes and Smith are going back to the ’90s with FOTB and Weird Al Yankovic traveled back to the ’80s for The Goldbergs, I am hoping we see more of this next season. I normally hate stunt casting, but I love it on these shows.
