How addictive is this dance to Soft Cell’s Tainted Love?
December 8th, 2018 under 80s. [ Comments: none ]

Back in the ’80s, everyone danced to Soft Cell’s Tainted Love, but no one came up for a dance to do it. Now, over 35 years later, Joe Kwaczala came up for a unified dance we can all do to it. Forget the Electric Side, this is a must for every wedding and Bar Mitzvah!

Now for a real challenge, try to do those moves to the original version of the song by Gloria Jones which is a lot faster. It might kill Kwaczala.

An ’80s teen girl’s wet dream: Limahl, Martin Fry and Tony Hadley!
October 9th, 2018 under 80s, Limahl, Spandau Ballet, Wet dream. [ Comments: none ]

Back in the ’80s, girls were in love with the lead singers of Kajagoogoo, ABC and Spandau Ballet, but never the three should meet. Thirty years later, Limahl (in sneakers), Martin Fry and Tony Hadley (in the flip-flops) got together this weekend to play a private show at the wedding of Dina & Thomas in West London.

I wonder what songs they did from their catalogs. I am thinking it was Limahl’s Never Ending Story, ABC’s The Look of Love and Spandau Ballet’s True. Three songs I would love to hear live from them. Especially since they all still look as good as they did when those tunes were climbing charts.

If you could have any living musician play your wedding, who would it be? I am going to have to sit on my choice, but I still want Air Supply’s Making Love Out of Nothing at All as my first song as a married couple.

Thompson Twins’ Tom Bailey will perform anywhere
September 28th, 2018 under 80s, Thompson Twins. [ Comments: none ]

Thompson Twins’ Tom Bailey released a solo album over the summer and he has been touring around the world to promote it. Recently, he played a gig in Portland and some very lucky people got an intimate show. That is because he and the band did a warm-up show in the bathroom. The room with the best acoustics in the house.

If you are a fan of his old band, then you are going to love his new CD Science Fiction. Even though I am a die-hard Duranie, I think that Thompson Twins were the best musical group of the ’80s!

Adventures in Babysitting’s Growing Pains come with Diff’rent Strokes!
August 20th, 2018 under 80s, Tracey Gold. [ Comments: none ]

Over the weekend, the Pop Culture Icon convention was held in St Louis and several pop culture icons came out for the event without their babysitters.

To name a few of the celebs who attended, there was Adventures in Babysitting’s Keith Coogan, Diff’rent Strokes Todd Bridges and Growing Pains Tracey Gold and Jeremy Miller. Before things got crazy, they got crazy and recreated the AiB poster.

They look so good doing it, I think they should make a sequel to the 1987 film together. Could you imagine all the hijinx they could get into? It would be like totally awesome.

BTW is it just me or does Gold look like Eddie Van Halen and Valerie Bertinelli’s secret daughter?

Julia Louis-Dreyfus is back at work on Veep
August 9th, 2018 under 80s, Julia Louis-Dreyfus. [ Comments: none ]

Ten months ago, Julia Louis-Dreyfus revealed that she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Now, less than a year later, and after surgery and chemo to beat it, she is back on the set of Veep looking happy and healthy.

Too bad it is the last season of the show, but she has the rest of her long life to give us more shows as great as this one.
