An ’80s girl’s wet dream: Billy Idol and Dave Wakeling
July 29th, 2019 under 80s, Billy Idol, Wet dream. [ Comments: none ]

Back in the ’80s, Billy Idol was dancing with himself. While Dave Wakeling was dancing with English Beat and General Public. One was a little bit Rock’n’Roll, while the other one was a little bit New Wave. Therefore, never should the two not meet!

That was then and this is now. Over the weekend, they showed a little Tenderness towards each other as you can see in this photo! Maybe they can make some Mony Mony together and go on tour. I know seeing them on one bill will take me there.

Sadly, Ranking Roger Charlery will not be able to join them. He passed away in March at the age of 56.

An ’80s girl’s wet dream, Corey Hart and Paul Young!
July 3rd, 2019 under 80s, Corey Hart, Wet dream. [ Comments: none ]

Back in the ’80s, girls were singing Corey Hart’s Never Surrender and Paul Young’s Everytime You Go Away. However, they never performed on the stage together. That is until now.

Yesterday while both of them were in Tokyo, they became Young at Hart during the It Ain’t Enough singer’s concert. Much to the delight of their fans who could not get enough of the two singers.

You know what? They look so good together (and separately), I think they should iron out the rough spots and consider going on tour together as Young at Hart. I know I am not the girl who would wear their sunglasses at night to see them live on one stage.

Gremlins is getting an animated prequel!
July 1st, 2019 under 80s. [ Comments: none ]

Back in 1984, we all fell in love with an awwwwdorable Mogwai called Gizmo. However, he turned ugly when someone fed him after midnight. He got even uglier when someone got the gremlin wet and he multiplied. Wreaking havoc in Kingston Falls. Now 35 years, instead of getting a third movie, we are going getting a 10-episode animated prequel from WarnerMedia.

The 30-minute animated show will “travel back to 1920s Shanghai to reveal the story of how 10-year-old Sam Wing (future shop owner Mr. Wing in the 1984 movie) met the young Mogwai called Gizmo. Along with a teenage street thief named Elle, Sam and Gizmo take a perilous journey through the Chinese countryside, encountering, and sometimes battling, colorful monsters and spirits from Chinese folklore. On their quest to return Gizmo to his family and uncover a legendary treasure, they are pursued by a power-hungry industrialist and his growing army of evil Gremlins.”

While it might not be Gremlins 3, it is better than nothing. Actually, it might even be better because it is Gizmo’s story and we love Gizmo! Hopefully, there will be merchandising to go with it because I want a Gizmo doll. Who wouldn’t?

What a feeling to see the Flashdance finale dance without music
June 12th, 2019 under 80s. [ Comments: none ]

Back in the ’80s, Flashdance changed up what music can mean to a movie, so what would it be like without Irene Cara’s chart-topping song What a Feeling? It would be so lackluster we would still not be talking about the movie today.

Now I want to know what the strip club dance would be like without Shandi’s He’s a Dream. Probably the same because no one was listening to the music.

What if Katrina and the Waves’ Walking on Sunshine was a dark song?
June 3rd, 2019 under 80s. [ Comments: none ]

Katrina and the Waves’ Walking on Sunshine is one of the happiest songs ever recorded, but what if it wasn’t? DJ Cummerbund mixed the 1985 tune with Alice In Chains’ Would and now all I want to do is cry. Not because he destroyed the song (quite the opposite), but he made the single very depressing. I feel like I am walking a tightrope and nothing but doom and gloom is below me. Who knew such darkness could come from such light, but if you change up the melody that is exactly what happened.

DJ Cummerbund has done a lot of great mashups like Pearl Jam’s Jeremy with Kenny Loggins’ Footloose, and I think this one is his best. Even if I just went through a box of tissues.
