Lisa Whelchel is collecting collectors for MeTV

Lisa Whelchel is returning to TV on a station that airs The Facts of Life. MeTV, the channel that airs classic television shows, is getting into the original programming business.

On April 7th, Collector’s Call is coming to their network. Each week, they will feature people who collect some of the most amazing things like items from The Wizard of Oz, KISS, presidential artifacts and so much more. We learn about their collections and then they will have to make a big decision. Trade one of their iconic items for something even more iconic or keep what they have. Anyone, who has collected anything, knows that is an impossible decision.

What was not an impossible decision for them was to get Blair Warner, I mean, Lisa Whelchel to host the show. Facts airs on their channel every morning, so it is a match made in TV heaven. To make it even more heavenly for us, they are going to air a special 3-hour marathon of the classic sitcom that will include her 5 favorite episodes. To make it even more enticing, she will tell us why each episode was so memorable for her. What a perfect way to celebrate the show’s 40th anniversary. Who feels old now?

Although, watching MeTV makes us feel young again. Thus, Collector’s Call is the perfect mix of old and new for us.

Can Millennials figure out how to use a typewriter?
December 4th, 2018 under MeTV. [ Comments: none ]

Even since Millennials have been in school, typewriters are so last century. Which makes you wonder if they would be able to use one. Me TV gave them that very exact challenge, and they accepted. But there was a catch. They had to go up against Boomers and Gen X. How did they do? They lost like someone who was typing and the ribbon broke when they needed to get a term paper out in an hour. Remember that nightmare? The only thing that made it better was sniffing White Out.

Now that they know our past pain, I hope they will never take computers and printers for granted again.

Millennials get to experience the hell of a cassette tape becoming unwond
September 24th, 2018 under MeTV. [ Comments: none ]

Hey older people, remember what life was like before CDs and MP3s? We used to listen to music on things called cassettes. Every now and again, the tape would get stuck in the player and then we would have to wind it back in very carefully. It was beyond frustrating. You just wanted to scream.

Since Millennials were born after CDs took over, they do not know our pain. But now some do thanks to Me TV. That means it is time for another race between them and Baby Boomers to see who can do it faster.

How did they do? Shockingly one of those young whippersnappers was able to do it in half the time of the oldies. But then they beat the youngins by just as much time.

Now I will be having nightmares of when my Big Chill soundtrack got stuck in the tape player. I cried for days. Almost as many as when I saw the movie.

How long will it take three generations to fill a Pez Dispenser?
August 21st, 2018 under MeTV. [ Comments: none ]

Me TV has a brand new Retro Race for their Millennials, Gen Xers and Baby Boomers to compete in. This time instead of trying to see who could dial a phone number the fastest on a rotary phone, they wanted to see who could fill a Pez Dispenser in the least amount of time.

Since I have not filled one since I was a kid and I ate more of the sugar candies than I put in the slot, I do not remember it being hard to do. Apparently, it is. At least it seems that way when the three generations try to do it.

Which generation won? Unlike last time, it was someone from the youngest generation as compared to someone who is older. She came in at just under 50 seconds. The loser was also from that generation because a Baby Boomer got disqualified.

I don’t know about you, but my biggest takeaway from this is that I am totally craving Pez!

BTWF: Aretha Franklin in Room 222
August 13th, 2018 under Aretha Franklin, Before They Were Famous, MeTV. [ Comments: none ]

Before Aretha Franklin got The Blues Brothers to Think, she was getting the teachers and a student of Room 222 to do it. Aren’t you just in awe of the then 29-year-old’s vocals in that 1972 episode?

While I know she was already an established singer at this point, this is her scripted role and the only she ever did for television. MeTV has a little more information about her appearance on a very busy night of musical television.
