Last year, Darren Criss won his first Tony for Maybe Happy Ending, and he has already given another Tony-worthy performance.
Earlier this week, he took part in MCC Theater’s Miscast, and this is the role he was born to play. It is up there with Michael Crawford as The Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera, Barbra Streisand as Fanny Brice in Funny People, and Patti LuPone in Evita.
What is this career-defining role? Little Orphan Annie! That’s right. He came out wearing a curly wig and a little red and white dress, and belted out Maybe.
However, just like he did on Glee, he made that sad ballad his own! And now I need a rock version of that showtune. Someone, make that happen.
You know, as soon as Ryan Murphy sees this, he is going to ask FX if he can do American Horror Story: Annie.
You can watch the digital broadcast of Miscast starting on May 12th on YouTube.
Remember season 24 of Law & Order: SVU, when Benson and Stabler came close to giving the fans what they wanted and almost kissed? Well, it turns out, they did!
What??? Mariska Hargitay told The Hollywood Reporter, “I think we [she and Chris Meloni] felt that this moment was earned, that this thing could happen for a second — and so that’s how we shot it. [audience goes crazy] Don’t you wish you were there for that?! Yeah. We shot it a couple different ways. And then they [Wolf and others] had the choice in editing, and they [opted to use the near-kiss version rather than the kiss] … We [she and Meloni] disagreed. We disagreed because we thought that it was earned and the way it was dealt with was really complex and very beautiful and very human and showed the complexity of their relationship and all the different ways that they’re connected … [But] no matter what I want, Dick Wolf can totally just say, ‘Uh, no.’”
However, the Executive Producer said yes to her directing the 600th episode (Can you believe they have done that many episodes?), which will be the sixth episode next season. Maybe Wolf will also say yes to the former partners finally kissing?!?
In 1992, Sharon Stone changed the way we look at how women cross their legs in a little movie called Basic Instinct. That scene was so iconic, we are still talking about it today. Without that moment, that movie would have been forgotten. But instead, it is a classic.
Men watched those few seconds, and it left a lasting impression that did not end when the lights turned on. Women watched that scene and were like I want to control men with just my legs, as she did.
However, after 33 years, we still don’t know how to do it as hypnotizing as she did. But that all changes tomorrow, when she gives us a lesson on The Drew Barrymore Show about how to cross your legs and make a man’s eyes go crossed.
What is her magical secret? She demonstrated her technique to Drew Barrymore and the audience. She explained that you sit straight up. Next, you bend your elbows and lean back, “so that you have a sense of openness, with your chest open, really important.” Then you look at him and think, “Go ahead, fuck with me,” as you slowly bring your leg over the other one.
Telling him to fuck with you in your mind as you show him he can’t, will empower your whole body to show him you are the boss and he is lucky to be your lap dog.
Go try it! It really makes you feel like a bad bitch with an ice pick, ready to take a stab at love.
