Yesterday was Saturday Night Live’s first episode during his second term as president. So, of course, they started off the episode by tackling his frightening first week in office again.
They did that by taking it back to 1776, when the Founding Fathers signed the Declaration of Independence. And if you do that, you need Alexander Hamilton. So, Lorne Michaels asked Lin-Manuel Miranda to reprise his most famous role 24 hours before the show went live. And the musical genius said yes.
And we are happy Lin-Manuel Miranda Cosgrove did because his appearance made a spot-on sketch even funnier! Especially when he broke. But he did try his best not to laugh. It was just too hard not to.
Colin Jost comes off as a nice guy from Staten Island, but he showed signs of being a true New Yorker during yesterday’s Weekend Update on Saturday Night Live.
Last week on Wheel of Fortune, a contestant accidentally knocked Ryan Seacrest during a winning hug.
Well, Jost, who hosts his own game show, Pop Culture Jeopardy, had a message for anyone who plans to do that to him. Don’t you dare do that to him because he has a gun behind his podium. So if you win, celebrate with the two people you are playing with, not Mr. Scarlett Johansson.
Happy’s Place reunited Reba McEntire with her Reba co-star Melissa Peterman and creator Kevin Abbott. Since then, we saw a reunion with them and Steve Howey, who also starred on the program, for an episode.
In the coming weeks, someone else from the WB series will be appearing on the NBC sitcom. Christopher Rich, who played Reba’s ex and Melissa’s husband on Reba, is going to be a guest star.
According to Variety, Rich is playing Maverick, “a local tattoo artist that is very good at his job … as long as he’s using his right hand. Turns out Maverick has had a stroke and likes to tease new clients about which hand he’s going to use when he starts doing their tattoos.” Is it wrong that I hope that Reba and Gabby fight over him? Just like old tim4es!
That is not the only guest star coming to the bar comedy. We are finally going to meet Bella’s mother, and she will be played by Justina Machado.
Limahl was shopping at Boots Pharmacy when he heard something familiar. It was his 1983 hit song Too Shy that he sang when he was with Kajagoogoo.
What was the singer’s never ending story? He wrote, “I stopped to double check and low n’ behold YES !! The in-store music system was playing my track, I looked around to see if one of the staff members had recognised me then selected the song (this has happened several times over the years) but couldn’t see anyone so I proceeded to enjoy the moment and have a little dance before calling my accountant to ensure he chased the royalties ”
I am a huge Limahl fan, and I would not have recognized him with the hat on because his hair is identifiable as his voice. A voice I would love to hear on the pharmacy’s speaker. Well, maybe not. Because that means they are playing classic tunes, and that makes me feel old.
