Earlier this month, David Lee Roth told The Las Vegas Review-Journal that he was “throwing in the shoes” after his 5-date residency in Las Vegas. The 67-year-old singer claimed to them, “my doctors, my handlers, compelled me to really address that every time I go onstage, I endanger that future.” It is a future he didn’t think he would have when he was younger. Diamond Dave thought he would go before his bandmate Eddie Van Halen, who passed away a year ago this week.
With a statement like that, you would think that this would be his final curtain call. However, the poster for those shows reads, “The Last Tour. Unless It Isn’t.”
That is why I never trust anyone when they say this is my last tour. Didn’t Cher say that? The Police? The Cure? Barbra Streisand? The Who? Mötley Crüe? And some of them are still touring.
So unless they are dead and buried like Michael Jackson, who died before his comeback, I never believe the fat lady sang until I hear her do it at their funeral.
Sh!t, even then, it might not be over because of this thing called holograms. I still can’t believe pay to see that.
Anyways, back to Roth. Tickets are available for his five “final” concerts at the Hard Rock in Vegas on December 31st, January 1st, 5th, 7th, and 8th here.
Shortly after the Golden Globes aired this year, NBC announced that they would not be airing them in 2022. The reason being that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association was not diverse enough, and it became public that members took gifts from studios and talent.
So, the HFPA went through a lot of changes, including adding more members of color and vowing not to receive gifts. Was that enough to change NBC’s mind? It was not.
However, they decided the show must go. A source told Variety, “The HFPA plans to recognize the performances of 2021 to celebrate the great work of the industry this past year at the 79th Annual Golden Globes.”
What that means, we do not know yet. They could do a press conference or try to find a place to televise the award show. But, they also have to find a venue to house them since they lost The Beverly Hilton.
Personally, I say take the year off. No one will miss them. It is not like there is a shortage of awards shows Far from it.
The first trailer is out for Scream 5, or as they call it Scream. It feels like the original movie but adapted for today’s moviegoers.
Because it stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette, it will get the fans that have been there for 25 years to go see it. And since they have a younger cast that includes Jenny Ortega as this film’s Drew Barrymore, they will get new fans as well. So, on January 14th, expect a lot of people to run out and watch Ghostface going another killing spree.
Matt Amodio had a remarkable winning streak on Jeopardy, but, sadly, it came to an end yesterday.
“I always wanted to be a Jeopardy champion, and I accomplished that,” Amodio said. “l know going into every bar trivia game that I plaI’mhat I’m going to come in with a little intimidation factor. But also, I just like the badge that it represents. As somebody who prioritizes knowledge and knowing things, this is really a good one to have following me ever” where.”
He lasted 38 games, two seasons, several host changes, answered more questions than a kid does in a school year and won a whopping $1,518,601.
Where does he land in Jeopardy’s GOAT list? Amodio is second in the all-time consecutive wins after Ken Jennings and third in earnings behind Jennings and James Holzhauer. That is admirable, to say the least.
Even though his daily competing days are over, he will be back for the next Tournament of Champions.
Congrats to Amodio. When the crap was hitting the fan behind the scenes of the game show, he gave us a reason to watch.
There are shows that are ensembles that can go on without their lead star, and then there are shows that can’t. We will find out in a few months if NCIS can survive without its leader Mark Harmon.
That is because the 70-year-old actor unceremoniously left the drama that he called home for 18 years yesterday.
“As an executive producer and dear friend, Mark continues to be an integral part of the fabric of the show. Our north star has always been staying true to our characters, and that truth has always guided the stories we tell and where those characters go,” Steven D. Binder, NCIS Executive Producer/Showrunner, said in a statement. “So regarding the future of Gibbs, as long-time fans of the show may have noticed over the years…never count Leroy Jethro Gibbs out.”
So we might see him again in May for the show’s possible series finale. We shall see. It all depends on how much of a hit it takes in the ratings due to his departure.
Are you going to miss him? And do you think he needed a better send-off? I do, and I don’t watch the procedural.
