Ever since Friends ended, everyone has wanted to see them back together. No matter how much the fans beg for it, the cast and creators say no.
With other shows getting revivals like Will & Grace, Roseanne and Murphy Brown, everyone keeps asking the cast about it. Today, it was Steve Harvey who took the plate and asked Matt LeBlanc if he would do it.
Joey told him, “Me personally, I don’t think so. You have to talk to the writers about it. That show was about a very finite period in your life, when you were like 20 and 30, right in there when your out of school, but your life hasn’t really started yet, your friends are your family, and you are kind of finding your way. When that period is over, it is over. All the characters have gone their separate ways.” Then he added, “I have always have this standard go to joke when people say, ‘We want to see what Joey is doing now?’ I’m like, ‘Nobody wants to see Joey get his colonoscopy.'”
Yes, we do. The episode could be The One When Joey Gets a Colonoscopy. There could also be the episode, The One When Ross Gets Viagra. Or The One When Rachel Get Menopause. Or The One When Chandler Turns 50. Just as they have gotten older, so have their fans. They want to see them in that next stage. Friends like them remain friends for a lifetime. As they get older, they just get closer as life throws them curve balls. We want to see that and laugh with them.
When their residuals start to die down, I am sure they will be back for more. No offense to the cast, but what are they doing now? Jennifer Aniston is doing annoying commercials. LeBlanc is doing that CBS comedy no one watches. And the rest are… They need to do Friends, just like all the other revivals!
I guess he is just bitter because Joey was such a piece of crap. He was the one who got the spinoff and he was the worst choice. Out of all of the characters, his was the least interesting. Maybe because he was so dumb and that a one note joke that did not play well by itself. Or maybe it was the actor who played him. Sorry, I just see LeBlanc playing the same character no matter what he does and that goes back to before he was a friend.
What do you think of the cast being so against doing a reunion or a revival?
How many times have you been in public and said you hated a show or a movie? We all have.
What if you are an actor in said production and you hear someone talking crap about your work? That is what happened to Josh Gad this morning, when he Tweeted, “I’m a small room, listening to someone talk about going to the opening of Book of Mormon two days before it opened on Broadway calling it ‘junk food’ and saying it got too much attention. Shall I say something?” Did he? He did, “Walked up and said ‘Sorry you didn’t like Book of Mormon. We can’t please everyone.'”
I am sure that person was left red faced. I know that is one of my biggest fear. But I grew up with my dad as a stage actor, so I try never to bad mouth something when I am nearby it. But now that I live by the studios, I have to be more careful because you never know. Although, there are a few times, I have seen something so painful, I just want to tell them in person how much they have pissed me off. We all have.
Have you ever had an experience like the one Josh Gad had today? Of course, you were not the Olaf in this scenario.
Wendy Williams’ doctor told her to take another week off to get her thyroid in check. Since the show must go on, she asked Jerry O’Connell to fill in for her all week.
Before he took her seat on the stage, he showed us a behind the scenes image of another seat she sits on before the show. That is the one for hair and makeup. Unlike her, he did it topless. Which makes you wonder if he should wear a shirt at all when he is actually hosting the daytime talk show. I mean, its demographic is women and we want to see a man’s naked chest in the morning. It might be 10a, but we are always up. If you know what I mean.
in no way, am I saying I want Ryan Seacrest to take off his suit. Although, Harry Connick Jr can do it for his remaining shows.
Back the headline, do you want to see the fat kid from Stand By Me to show off his toned body all week? In fact, I am one upping the request and I want to see him doing it in just a Speedo! Although the cold studio could be a problem, so I say but a sock on it!
Last week, Sarah Drew and Jessica Capshaw were fired from Grey’s Anatomy, after being with the medical drama since 2009. As soon as word got out, fans of the show immediately blamed Ellen Pompeo, who negotiated a contract that makes her the highest paid actress on a primetime drama.
Pompeo took to Twitter and said, “We R grateful all of you are so passionate but if you knew these two women the way I know them they would not approve of all this nastiness. They both are super shiny happy people. I know you’re angry but you’re representation couldn’t be further from who these women actually are.” Fans were unhappy with that response because she did not even mention the fan favorites’ names. Once again the actress took to social media and tweeted, “Please don’t accuse me of being disrespectful it doesn’t matter what I say nothing I say is ok so I won’t say anything at all anymore.”
Did her salary cost the job of two of the longtime cast members, they will never tell us. But you have to assume that it did play a part. As a show ages, they cost more money. If you are going to give one star a huge raise, then you would think others will suffer for it. Plus, ABC made some costly mistakes this year. Renewing Modern Family last year for two more seasons and giving the cast a raise, but only to have it take a huge ratings hit. And two words that will definitely put a big dent in ABC’s piggy bank and they are American Idol.
Therefore, it is not completely her fault. But…
Since I have not watched Grey’s in ages, I hope both actress get to take advantage of the pilot season and get on show that doesn’t just dump them after 8 years of work.
