CBS will air Thursday Night Football starting in the fall
February 5th, 2014 under CBS. [ Comments: none ]

CBS announced today that they will be airing 16 Football games in the fall, 14 of which will be played on Thursday nights and 2 on Saturdays. CBS and the NFL Network will air 8 early and late season games simultaneously.
What that means for CBS’s successful Thursday night shows like The Big Bang Theory and The Millers is a mystery as of now. It will also be interesting to see how the other networks will react to this news. NBC said last month at the TCAs they weren’t sure if they will continue airing comedies on Thursdays and this news might’ve put the final nail that coffin.
Personally, as a girl who doesn’t really care too much about football, I think CBS is making a mistake. As a person who watched the Super Bowl like over 111 millions others, I know this is a smart business decision. In other words it is a foul to me, but a touchdown for CBS.

Selena Gomez entered rehab for undisclosed reason
February 5th, 2014 under Disney, Selena Gomez. [ Comments: none ]

Selena Gomez confirmed today that she secretly entered a rehab program in Arizona and completed it last month. Her people told People, “Selena voluntarily spent time at Meadows but not for substance abuse.”
Back in December, she announced that she was cancelling her Australian tour to take care of herself. I am assuming that taking care of herself was spending 2 weeks in rehab. Hopefully it helped her and she will be back to her old self in no time.

CVS will stop selling cigarettes by October 1st!!!
February 5th, 2014 under Admirable People. [ Comments: 1 ]

CVS announced today that they will stop selling cigarettes at all of their stores by October 1st. Not only will they no longer be carrying the cancer sticks, starting this spring they will launch programs that will help people who want to kick the disgusting habit.
This will cost the pharmaceutical billions of dollars and they are OK with that. CVS Caremark CEO, Larry Merlo, explained his decision CBS Morning News why he is putting health before financial gain, “Well we generate about $2 billion in tobacco and related sales, but at the same time, we believe this is the right decision for our company. It positions us for future growth and the opportunity to play a greater role in our evolving healthcare system.”
As a former smoker, I applaud their decision. I hope other companies will follow suit because we need to get rid of smoking. The only reason why tobacco is still being sold because of all the money it generates. Should we put money ahead of human lives? I think not. Plus the world will smell so much better if it doesn’t smell like smokers.

The best wedding couple names!
February 4th, 2014 under Jay Leno. [ Comments: none ]

Jay Leno is ending his run on The Tonight Show this Thursday and he has been featuring some of his best ofs from the show’s run. Yesterday he not only featured the best couple names in wedding announcements, he brought them on to the NBC late night show so we could see what they look like now. So watch this segment to see what happens when couples don’t think what will happen when they combine their last names in a wedding announcement like Butt-Peeper and Flok-King will sound like when people read their happy news in the newspapers.
So think of this as a warning, when you start dating someone, make sure your last names sound good together or at least not something a late night host can easily make fun of on his show.
