Smash lives up to the hype and then some!
February 6th, 2012 under Debra Messing. [ Comments: none ]

It is rare that a show lives up to the hype, but that is exactly what Smash does. The most buzzed about show in ages debuts on NBC tonight at 10p and you are going to see why everyone who sees it loves it.
Julia Houston (Debra Messing) is taking a break from writing Broadway musicals to adopt a baby girl with her husband. Then one day while her co-writer Tom Levitt (Christian Borle) and her are hanging out, his assistant suggests that they do a musical about Marilyn Monroe. Her break is over and they write a song for the prospective show. The video goes viral and now they are working on the full show which doesn’t please her husband.
Eileen Rand (Anjelica Huston) is a Broadway producer who is getting a divorce and she decides to screw him and invest in Marilyn. She brings along one the toughest and greatest directors in town, Derek Wills (Jack Davenport) who has a bitter history with Tom. Tom doesn’t want him on board, but once he and Julia see what he can do, they decide to make it somehow work.
Now it is time for the auditions. The writers want their friend Ivy Lynn (Megan Hilty) for the role of Marilyn, but Derek wants a star. In walks a young woman from Iowa named Karen Cartwright (Katharine McPhee), she might be green but she has it. Now the two women are going to battle it for the title role and only one will walk away with it.
Ever since I saw the pilot over the summer, I have told everyone and anyone that they have to watch this show. For months I have been singing the praises of Smash and I am so happy that tonight you will get to experience what I did. You will be talking about this show that leaves you belting out your happiness.
To give you a hint how wonderful this show is, I hated Katharine McPhee on American Idol but I found myself rooting for her on this show.
Smash is real. Smash is raw. Smash is fabulous. Smash is everything you want from a show and more. Smash is a Smash!!!

Madonna was Super and she Bowled me over
February 5th, 2012 under Madonna, Super Bowl. [ Comments: none ]

All week we have listened to Madonna talk about her movie and being her arrogant self that I completely forgot what an amazing musical performer she is. That was until her halftime show at the Super Bowl. She rocked that football field in a way only she can. I just wish she didn’t do her new song that sounds like it should be on the 1983 Valley Girl soundtrack instead of an album in 2012.

NBC shows its shows’ Brotherhood
February 5th, 2012 under NBC. [ Comments: 1 ]

NBC shot a promo with most of their shows singing the Brotherhood of Man. As much as I loved the song, I realized I barely watch any of their shows.
And where was Grimm? Why wasn’t that show represented?

Don’t just sit with wine glasses in your hands doing nothing, watch Cougar Town on Tuesday nights
February 5th, 2012 under Bill Lawrence. [ Comments: 1 ]

Season three of Cougar Town is finally going to debut on Valentine’s Day at 8:30p on ABC, but before it hit the airwaves next Tuesday you can watch the high-larious preview reel. If you needed a reason to watch the worst titled show on television, then I think the above ten minute video will you give you that much needed reason. Don’t tell me you didn’t laugh more watching that preview reel than you did watching Chelsea and Whitney and Rob and all those one named sitcoms named after comedians you would never pay money to see live combined.
Another reason to watch the show, never in the history of television has a cast and crew fought so hard to keep their show on the air. So much so here is what show creator Bill Lawrence sent out to the press when he sent out a link to the video, “Trying everything, we just all like our job too much. Getting in trouble with ABC legal left and right (walk on contest, free wine, posting show clips, etc) but whatever.” You can say whatever to him getting in trouble, but please don’t say whatever to this funny show that is about friendship, wine, pranks, games, love, wines and cul de sac living. It is about everything, but Cougars living in a Town.
So please I implore you to watch Cougar Town every Tuesday at 8:30p, I promise you will love it as much as everyone who is trying to keep this show on air. That and Glee will be off the air for seven weeks, and who wants to watch I Hate My Teenage Daughter over this show?
