Before Tara Reid went to high school in American Pie and college in Van Wilder, she went to an elementary school in A Return to Salem’s Lot. You can’t even tell that the 11 year old in that 1987 movie would grow up to be the Tara Reid we would know later on.
Side note: I wonder whatever happened to Ricky Addison Reed who played the lead boy in that movie, I had such a crush on him when I saw the A Return to Salem’s Lot?
Paul Scheer plays Andre on FX’s The League and he told me about his role and the show at the premiere last week. The League is a hysterical show about 5 lifelong friends who are in a Fantasy Football League together and besides all of them trying to win it, it also deals with their lives outside of it and how their friendship gets them through it. You don’t have to know anything about Fantasy Football to enjoy this show, you just have to love to laugh at things you shouldn’t. Paul Scheer described his character to me, “Andre is like this insane fun character because he is desperately trying to fit in. He is successful in his real life, he makes a ton of money, he is a successful doctor, he dates women, but in his group of friends he is that loser that they went to high school with and he will never be able to lose that. And that is a fun character to play. To have everything disposable, but still to never be able to up himself in their friends’ eyes.” The stuff his friends does to him will crack you up and make you feel bad for him because they are always picking on him. Like on last week’s episode when he shows them he framed his first joint he smoked when he was in college, and his friends told him that there was never any weed in it but just pubes. How messed up is that? Tonight he finds out that two of his friends are Eskimo Brothers because they did his sister when they were much much younger and he didn’t know about it until now. When I asked him if his sister was going to be on the show, you have to watch the interview above to see how I caught him off guard and how adorable he was when he realized what I was asking!
So what is coming up for Andre in the upcoming episodes? He told me he goes on a Mancation with one of his friends and it becomes bromantic, that sounds interesting. And on next week’s episode he joins another league and his friends are not happy about it. Now when it comes to the actors and a Fantasy Football League, Paul Scheer told me although he has never played in one before the show, he is leading their league! Not bad for a first time.
So besides kicking a$$ in the real life Football Fantasy League what else does he have going on? He is starring in a show on HBO called Funny or Die Presents and in April you can see him the much talked about Piranha 3D. But before all of that check him out tonight and every Thursday on FX at 10:30p for one of the funniest shows on TV now!!!
Rue McClahanan had bypass surgery on Tuesday but she is doing OK according to Reuters! She went to her doctor on Monday who noticed she had an irregular heartbeat and her check into the hospital for bypass surgery. According to The Advocate she was suppose to attend an event next week in San Fransisco, but instead sent a letter to cancel. She wrote, “My darlings, I’m just devastated that I am going to have to miss my own tribute at the Castro Theatre,” she said in a statement on Wednesday from her hospital room. “Unfortunately, my doctor has laid down the law, and I’m currently having some maintenance on the old ticker. Trust me, I’d much rather be in San Francisco having fun and being adored by all of you.”
Hopefully The Golden Girl will be better soon because with only two of them left we can’t lose another one of them anytime soon.
BTW am I the only thought of the episode where Blanche Deveraux got a pacemaker when they read the news?
Is Oprah Winfrey giving up her syndicated talk show to save her cable network OWN? According to Nikki Finke, “the Discovery Communications chief David Zaslav has demanded that Oprah ‘move it or lose it’ — move her talk show to OWN, or risk losing the Oprah Winfrey Network altogether.” She added that she will make an announcement in the near future that she will be ending her show in 2011 and move it to her OWN cable network. She also said that Oprah was suppose to tell the head of CBS last month her decision whether or not she was going to renew her show, but has cancelled all of their meetings. If she decides to cancel her syndicated show it will be a big loss to CBS Television Distribution because it is the #1 syndicated program and will hurt them financially.
Personally I wouldn’t miss her because I never got her show or her popularity, but I know I am in the minority. Would you miss her show if it were just on cable?
Remember the hysterical movie Stay Tuned with John Ritter and Pam Dawber where they got stuck in a TV and had to live the lives of whatever TV show they were trapped in on that channel? Well tonight at 9p on The CW’s Supernatural the same thing sort of happens The Winchester when they meet up with the Trickster again. The episode appropriately named Changing Channels starts off like a sitcom with a musical theme that pays homage to many great sitcoms like Bosom Buddies and Laverne & Shirley, and it just gets better from there. Sam and Dean find themselves acting in a Grey’s Anatomy like show, playing a Japanese Game show, advertising for a Herpes medicine and Sam becomes the Knight Rider. I don’t want to spoil it too much because it is a can’t miss episode. Not only because of the brilliance of them going from TV show to TV show, but we also learn more about the Trickster and the Trickster reveals something about Sam and Dean that you can’t miss. And you have to watch the episode all the way through because the last two lines are a huge reason why Supernatural just gets better and better every week! So make sure to watch one of the best episodes ever of Supernatural tonight and every Thursday at 9p on The CW!!!
