The trailer for 2012 blew me away
October 8th, 2009 under John Cusack. [ Comments: 1 ]

Maybe because I have a thing for disaster movies, but the trailer for 2012 blew me away. I sat there in awe as I watched the trailer and when it was done I was like holy f*cking sh!t I can’t wait until November 13th to see that film. Seriously how awesome does 2012 look? It has the feel of Independence Day and that was great a disaster movie. Plus John Cusack is in it. The King of chick flicks doing a dick flick, how cool it that?
The only negative is now I know about the Mayan prophecy for 12/21/2012.

BTWF roles: Ian Somerhalder and Kate Moening in Young Americans
October 8th, 2009 under Before They Were Famous. [ Comments: none ]

Before Ian Somerhalder was a human blood sucking Vampire on The Vampire Diaries and Kate Moening was a doctor on Three Rivers, they were just two kids going to a ritzy prep school in Young Americans. Ian hasn’t aged a day since he was 21 back in the 2000 episode. And Kate Moening, who has built a career on playing androgynous characters, looked the most androgynous back when she was 22 in 2000.

Southland cancelled before its second season premiere
October 8th, 2009 under NBC. [ Comments: none ]

We kind of knew that Southland was in trouble when NBC pushed its premiere date from September to October, but today things got even worse for the John Wells because The Hollywood Reporter is saying that the show has been cancelled before it even aired its second season premiere. The show was suppose to begin airing on October 23rd, but the network stopped production after 6 episodes today and as of now it is not known if anyone of them will air at all.
This is one of the very very very few shows that actually was picked up for a second season from the old head of the network, and with its cancellation I think means that Parks and Recreation is the only show of his that survived to a second season.
The cancellation of Southland is a very sad day for NBC because that means there is one less scripted program on their network that already devotes 5 hours to talk a night, 2 hours a week to reality, their weekends are repeats and/or football and now a news program will be taking over Southland’s slot. So that means only 7 hours a week are devoted to scripted programming during their primetime lineup. And it will be even less once America’s Got Talent comes back in a few weeks. How does NBC expect to get groove their back when they barely have anything to watch and be loyal to? Sad.

UPDATE: The Shield and The Unit’s show creator Shawn Ryan Tweeted it best, “Everything you need to know about NBC at this moment in time: They even managed to lose the Seinfeld reunion to another network.” So ouch, but sadly so freaking true.

ABC gives full season orders to Modern Family, Cougar Town and The Middle
October 8th, 2009 under ABC, The Middle. [ Comments: none ]

ABC has picked up 3 of their 4 (Modern Family, Cougar Town and The Middle) new Wednesday comedies for a full season. While it is no surprise that critically acclaimed Modern Family and the hysterical Cougar Town were picked up, I find it interesting that The Middle was in the mix. Either way it is great day for sitcoms because up until this season it looked they might be on the way out. But Modern Family and Cougar Town have really helped to re-ignite the comedy fire and I hope that we will be getting more of them instead of less. Seriously who isn’t enjoying the 9p hour on ABC? Modern Family is just brilliant, while Cougar Town is a laugh riot!!!
The lone comedy not picked up is Kelsey Grammer’s Hank, guess his Frasier days are long over.
