The Oscars just got whole a lot longer

The Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences announced today that they are expand the amount of Best Picture nominations from 5 to 10.

“After more than six decades, the Academy is returning to some of its earlier roots, when a wider field competed for the top award of the year,” said Sid Ganis. “The final outcome, of course, will be the same – one Best Picture winner – but the race to the finish line will feature 10, not just five, great movies from 2009.”
“Having 10 Best Picture nominees is going allow Academy voters to recognize and include some of the fantastic movies that often show up in the other Oscar categories, but have been squeezed out of the race for the top prize,” commented Ganis. “I can’t wait to see what that list of ten looks like when the nominees are announced in February.”

Yeah right, come February we will be stuck once again with 10 movies vying for Best Picture that most of the world has not seen nor do they ever plan on seeing. I know the Academy is trying to find a way to get people interested in the Oscars again and nominating 10 films is not the answer. Not only because it is going to make the broadcast even longer than it already was with tributes to each of the 10 movie, but because they are not going to pick movies that the general public wants to see. Instead of picking movies that only come out in very limited release in the last days of December just to be nominated, pick movies that come out throughout the year that people went to see over and over again. This year so far we have Star Trek and Up and coming up in the next few months we have Public Enemies and Inglourious Basterds. May the people who are deciding which 10 movies will be going for Hollywood’s highest honor, stop choosing extremely boring movies that barely anyone saw before the show and will only see once because that is as many times as you can watch them like Crash, No Country for Old Men and The Departed (I had to look up the winners on Wikipedia) and try to remember the days when you choose movies like Titanic, Forrest Gump and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Movies people saw and continue to watch today. The Oscar should go to movies that have made an impact and will continue to make an impact in the future. Because the last few winner have been forgotten almost as soon as the winners walked off the stage. They have been movies the general movie goer can’t root for. Stop being such elitists and remember the Oscars are not only about the people who vote for the winners, it is about movie goers all over the world! So vote as the average movie goer would and we will back watching the show full force no matter who is hosting. But it would be nice to have either Billy Crystal or Hugh Jackman back for the show when it airs on March 7th!
BTW I chose that picture of the Oscar statues wrapped in plastic because that is how I feel when I hear who is nominated and a few weeks later watching the show…suffocated!!!

Rachel Hunter’s cub dumps her weeks before their wedding
June 24th, 2009 under Break-ups, Nick Lachey/Jessica/Ashlee Simpson. [ Comments: 1 ]

Rachel Hunter, 39 was suppose to get married to hockey player Jarret Stoll, 27 on August 14, but he sent an e-mail to all their guests telling them wedding is off. No reason was given, in fact according to the Daily Mail even Rachel doesn’t know why. Could it be the huge age difference between the two? The two were dating for 3 year before the split or since before he was old enough to rent a car.

In other couple dunzo news, Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo have ended their relationship after 3 years of dating according to Us Weekly. Their split isn’t even worth its own post because they were such yawners.

A man had to come up with the Kush Support
June 24th, 2009 under Ads. [ Comments: none ]

via Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Every now and again you see a product advertised on TV and you wonder if it really is for real. Well the Kush Support is definitely one of the oddest one of them all. I am a big chested (natural) woman and I never had any problems sleeping on side because of them. But now that I have seen the Kush Support, I am thinking I am should get one.
But then again it might not be as much as what it is for, but for something else it reminds me I like to do in a bed with a guy. What? The Kush Support even comes in a soft pink pouch. Seriously if they added vibration to it, I would pay $40 they are asking for it.

Laurie’s response to her She’s Got the Look meltdown is as zany as her meltdown
June 24th, 2009 under TV Land. [ Comments: 3 ]

Last week on TV Land’s She’s Got the Look Laurie had one of the best meltdowns ever on reality on TV and now her response to it is just as an awesome. Seriously I want what she is on if she actually believes what she says. I love how she says G-d told her to be transparent, so that is why she took her top off. Why would G-d tell her to do that? Then I love how she says she didn’t want to compete, she just wanted to help the girls and that is why she brought food and water along with her for them. Isn’t that what the production crew does? Too bad her meltdown came so early in the show because I would love to have seen what else she would’ve done. Hopefully the girls will be talking about it tomorrow at 10p on TV Land because I am sure they will have a reaction to it! How can they not?
BTW if you missed the meltdown last week on She’s Got the Look, here it is.

Kodak is offering $5,000 to save this Megan Fox Kodak moment
June 24th, 2009 under Megan Fox. [ Comments: 1 ]

(photos from Dlisted)
Last week Megan Fox was at a premiere in London of Trasformers 2 when a boy offered to give her a yellow rose she completely blew off the young fan. Once the blogs and press slammed her on her actions, she said “I would gladly accept your rose if I see you again.” Well now Kodak wants to make that happen, so much so they are offering $5,000 to correct this Kodak moment. “It’s amazing how just a photograph can connect and change the lives of two complete strangers,” said Leslie Dance, Vice President of Kodak's Worldwide Brand Marketing & Communications. “If this photo is any indication, this boy was really hoping to meet Megan Fox and give her that rose, and we'd love to help make his fantastical wish come true.”
Not only is Kodak offering $5,000 to anyone who can provide them with verifiable info on the boy, they will pay the travel expenses for the boy and his family to give her the rose (which they will pay for too) and hopefully this time she will accept it.
So if you know this boy who so desperately wanted to give Megan Fox a yellow rose, then e-mail Kodak at [email protected] with his info and you will be $5,000 richer.
