In 1642, JOHN AMSTERDAM (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), then a Dutch solider in the colony of New Amsterdam – later to become New York City — stepped in front of a sword to save the life of a Native American girl during a massacre of her indigenous tribe. The girl in turn rescued Amsterdam, weaving an ancient spell that conferred immortality upon him. Amsterdam will not age, she told him, until he finds his one true love. Only then will he become whole and ready for mortality.
Amsterdam has found this to be a mixed blessing. Over the course of three centuries, he’s experienced endless adventure and honed his many talents. But everyone Amsterdam meets must leave him in time; friends, lovers and children grow old and eventually die, while he remains young. The exhilaration of eternal life has given way to emotional isolation and loneliness; the blessing has become a curse. His sole confidant and current lifelong friend is the sage jazz club owner OMAR (Stephen Henderson), the keeper of Amsterdam’s secret, as well as a few of his own.
Having witnessed its entire history from colonial outpost to mega-metropolis, John Amsterdam is the living embodiment of New York City. He and the island of Manhattan are joined — part and parcel. Bringing to bear the unorthodox techniques and unique knowledge gained from his vast life experience, Amsterdam today is one of the NYPD’s best homicide detectives, sparring with his vibrant, strong-willed partner EVA MARQUEZ (Zuleikha Robinson) as they solve difficult murder cases.
New Amsterdam finally premieres on Fox tonight at 9p after American Idol! I say finally because the show was originally suppose to air in the fall.
The concept of the show is interesting, a man who cannot die until he meets his true love. In the search for true love he has met many women and has had two children that we know of. The pilot also has him chasing a subject and dying (for a little while) from his heart exploding. He is convinced that he had the heart attack because the woman that will free him was there at that time. Now he is on a search to find her so he can grow old and die.
The show also has your procedural crime drama for those of you who are in to that!

If you see photos in the press or online of my car window being "smashed by vandals", I just want you to know that it was one of the many paparazzi who were following us who did it. There were so many of them hassling us that it is difficult to say which one of them did it but i had to leap in a taxi to get away from them, my friend Emily had to get into the car which was covered in broken glass and drive it away. It was a scary situation and i want people to know that it was totally their fault and that the whole situation has angered and upset me. Emily got cut from sitting on the broken glass and we are both horrified that people could behave in this way and get away with it.
I have to admit when I first saw these pictures of Lily Allen's vandalized car I did not post them because I felt she has such a bad 2008 already why post another heartbreak of hers. Then she blogged about what happened and I felt she needed to get that message out there. Poor Lily Allen 2008 is not her year, maybe the karma of 2007 is catching up to her.

Hawkins receives another call from his mysterious new contact, John Smith, who continues to know his every move, and who informs Hawkins that he is one day away from being caught by Major Beck.
Hawkins risked getting found out to save Jericho and now it looks like that risk was too great and he has a 24 hours before he is caught. I hope he doesn’t get caught because I love his character on the show, but it is time for someone else to die on the show…
So please please please tune into Jericho on CBS tonight at 10p the ratings are down and we need to save this show. So DVR/Tivo it, but also watch it live! Long live Jericho!!!
