This weekend, Erik Ostberg, who plays for the Loco Beach Coconuts, a competitor of the Savannah Bananas, recreated Guillermo Rodriguez’s dance from Dancing with the Stars.
When SB’s Jackson Olson saw the dance, he commented on social media: “But seriously how did you do this better than him with 2 hours of rehearsal.” However, he wound up deleting the comment.
But it was not quick enough, because fans saw it and made a screengrab to share. They saw this as a dig at the Jimmy Kimmel Live security guard, and they called out Olson, who is an anti-bully activist, for that comment. The fans even went as far as to say that Olson and Emma Slater should be voted off the show tonight.
Olson has remained quiet about the situation until today. That is when Olson made a video lip-syncing to Hannah Montana’s Nobody Perfect. Guillermo joins him, and the two of them dance.
Along with the video, Olson wrote, “To G and to all of you, from the bottom of my heart I am so sorry about my comment I made the other day and that it caused this much negativity. I love this guy ❤️ now let’s do what this show is meant to be about.. DANCE 🕺 ily G”
Do you forgive Olson? I am on the fence. I get that a lot of people are upset that Guillermo, who is the worst dancer on the show, keeps getting voted through to the next week. But I see it like this. I would rather see someone with no dance experience improve week to week than someone with years of professional experience make it to the finals.
I am more upset with biased judges. I do not think it is fair that Mark Ballas gets to compete on the show when he spent a big chunk of his childhood living with Derek Hough. But it is not only that; the judges have their favorites and least favorites and vote accordingly, no matter how much better their least favorites get.
