Believe it or not, the two oldest men in the world both celebrate their birthdays today. And they each sent the other a birthday card, according to Guinness World Records.
João Marinho Neto is celebrating his 114th birthday in Brazil. And Ken Weeks is enjoying his 113th in New South Wales.
However, a woman, Ethel Caterham from the United Kingdom, is the oldest person in the world. She turned 117 on August 21st.
“His [Neto] longevity stature among men is arguably even more impressive than Ethel’s among women (not that they’re in competition),” says @longeviquest expert Ben Meyers. “Because of the disparity in longevity between genders, it’s rarer for a man to reach 114 than it is for a woman to reach 117.”
I guess women nag men to death, which is why we live longer.
