Possible upcoming American Idol 6 Theme Nights?
March 17th, 2007 under American Idol 6. [ Comments: none ]

According to a American Idol page on Live Journal the below are confirmed and unconfirmed upcoming theme nights for the show. I think the Gwen Stefani night will be the songs from 2000- present day and not alternative. The site also said that confirmed guests that are not on the list are Jon Bon Jovi (thank g-d that night is coming towards the end) and Barry Gibb. I hope the Barry Gibb night is Disco and not a Bee Gees night because those high notes are not meant for everyone to do.

The theme nights are not that bad, but as I have been saying not only is this group boring they can't pick a song to save themselves.

I’ll take first time in Jeopary’s history for $200, Alex
March 17th, 2007 under Game Shows. [ Comments: none ]

What is a three-way tie?
Last night for the first time in Jeopardy’s history there was a three-way tie when all three contestants final scores totaled $16,000. Alex Trebek had this to say to the AP about the game show history making moment, “We’ve had a lot of crazy things happen on `Jeopardy!’ but in 23 years I’ve never seen anything like this before.” So what was the tie causing question, “1 of the men who shot her realized when he saw her body she’s often wait on him in a cafe in Dallas” The correct answer that all three got was Bonnie Parker. A mathematician said the chances of this happening were one in 25 million. Tune in Monday to see who the ultimate winner is of the three. My question is why didn’t Scott bet $2601?

UPDATE
: Scott Weiss explains on his blog why he bet $2,600 and all I have to say is good for him!!!

Oh, you want to know about the Final Jeopardy! wager? It was an intentional bet. I counted on Anders and Jamey betting rationally and wagering everything. I thought it would be really cool to be a part of Jeopardy history. I knew that meant I’d be playing seasoned opponents, but it didn’t matter to me. I had already won a couple of games myself, and I thought it would be neat to share the money. (See my post about Jennifer from a couple of days; that’s what the literary people call foreshadowing. :-)). Now there’ll be a notation next to one of my games in the J! Archive. How cool is that?

But there have been other unexpected benefits. A schoolteacher present at the game came up to me and said I taught the kids a great lesson in sportsmanship and generosity. Cecil and I have become good friends with Anders and his wife Juneko, and Jamey and his wife Beth. Juneko made Beth and Cecil gorgeous glass pendants commemorating the tie, and she made a teddy bear for Ragnar out of felt. I just got a note from Anders asking what charity I’d like him to donate some of his money to.

Some people, maybe even many people, seem to think the wager was a mistake. But I don’t think so. I can’t say I was 100% altruistic in my decision. I liked Anders and Jamey; Anders and I had talked at lunch about cryptics a little, and Jamey seemed like a fun person. (Maggie commented to us before the game as to what a good time I seemed to be having, and Jamey half-joked that he hoped I’d have a little less of a good time then.) But I really wasn’t thinking about them. I thought more of the show. I’ve been watching Jeopardy! for all of its 23 years. Yesterday I got to give something back. How many players or even champions get the opportunity to do that?

Sienna Miller has a tranny stalker?
March 17th, 2007 under Sienna Miller. [ Comments: none ]

Sienna Miller claims she is being stalked by a transvestite named Peter according to Daily Snack. She is so terrified by her UK stalker that she has hired two security guards to protect her while she in home. A source interviewed by Daily Snack had this to say  "Sienna has been bombarded with bizarre letters from a transvestite and has hired two security men. The poor girl hasn’t been sleeping properly because she has been so scared. And things just got to the point that she just had to take extra care of herself. Peter wears a woman’s wig and seriously high-heeled stilettos, fake fur coats and green dresses. He loves make-up and in his letters to Sienna, which are now blocked from getting through to her, he talks about being obsessed with her look. He is also obsessed with her latest film Factory Girl, the character of Andy Warhol and his relationship with his muse, Sienna’s character Edie Sedgwick. He tries to follow her everywhere." Not only she afraid of Peter she is also scared of the paparazzi, "I’ll go to the house on my own and I know that these eight men outside are aware I’m by myself. I’m a 25-year-old girl and I find that very intimidating. I end up running down the street in the dark with eight grown men sprinting after me." I can understand what the paparazzi sees in her, but what does Peter?

Carol Burnett not laughing with Family Guy
March 16th, 2007 under Carol Burnett, Lawsuits, Seth MacFarlane. [ Comments: none ]

Carol Burnett is suing Family Guy for $2 million for using her image and name without her permission according to Reuters. Burnett says the show committed copyright infringement by using her cartoon likeness from her variety show, The Carol Burnett Show. Burnett says she has exclusive rights to her name and image and the show did ask her to use either. She asked the show to edit her out of the scene and they have declined which is probably why she went ahead with the lawsuit?

A spokesman for 20th Century Fox Television, which produces “Family Guy,” said on Friday the suit was without merit and that references to Burnett and her show in an 18-second sequence of the cartoon amounted to parody. “‘Family Guy,’ like the ‘Carol Burnett Show,’ is famous for its pop culture parodies and satirical jabs at celebrities,” the studio said in a statement. “We are surprised that Ms. Burnett, who has made a career of spoofing others on television, would go so far as to sue ‘Family Guy’ for a simple bit of comedy.”

As a fan of both shows I think I am going to side with Family Guy on this one. You know that expression “what comes around, goes around” well as the spokesperson said she did the same thing all the time 40 years ago so what is the difference now?

BTW you can read the lawsuit at The Smoking Gun for more details.
